New Books!

We have added new books to both the print and e-collections! Check out all the titles on our New Books Slideshow. If you see something you like, simply fill out the Book Checkout Request form located on each slide and the book will be delivered to your classroom by library staff. Feel free to share the slideshow on your Google Classroom. We have added all of the new KBA books as well as audiobooks of the 2021-22 Kentucky Bluegrass Award nominees to our e-collection. We have also made bookmarks for students--feel free to print and share! We also have laminated bookmarks available in the library-just let us know how many you would like and we can deliver them to your classroom. Finally, I have added a link to FREE Sync Audiobooks on the Welcome and Find a Good Book tabs on the LibGuide. Check out the offerings at this link.

Library Re-Opening Plan and Book Check-out

Here is a teacher and student friendly version of the library's re-opening plan. Yes, we are still checking out books even though students can't technically browse the shelves--simply use the Book Request form and the book will be delivered sometime during the school day. A link to the catalog is also included on the request form so that students can search for books they may be interested in reading. Please feel free to share this link on your Google Classroom.

Overdue Notices and Book Collection

We are hard at work trying to collect books that were checked out last year pre-COVID. If you haven't already received them, you will be receiving overdue book notices in your mailbox. Please give these out to students in your first period (unless otherwise marked on the slip). It is critical that we collect as many books as possible so that we can keep our collection in good condition. If you receive a slip for a student who is not in your classes or is virtual only, please send the slip back to the library, put it in the library mailbox in the front office or shoot me an email. If you have books in your classroom (please check your bookshelves for books with a library label!) please return those ASAP. For students who checked out books upon our return to school, the final day to check in books is Friday, May 14th. Thank you SO much for your help with this endeavor!

Library Trivia

A big congrats to our April library trivia winner, Justin McGaughey! Justin is a student in Mr. Probst's English class and successfully answered the questions: "Visit the Doss LibGuide Welcome Page and view the "Doss Library Re-Opening Plan" in the middle column. Will students be able to browse the shelves at school during April and May 2021: Yes or No?" and "According to the plan, how will students be able to checkout books from the library?" The correct answers are no and using the book request form. The May trivia questions have been posted on the LibGuide--encourage your students to enter for a chance to win a book of their choice!
