Tips From the Office...
Attendance Matters
One of the most important things students can do to achieve success is also one of the most basic: attend school every day and on time! Students who attend school regularly achieve at higher levels than students who do not have
regular attendance
Please remember to call or email the office if your student will be absent for any reason. If your student needs to leave early for an appointment, let the office know before the school day if possible. The office will provide students with a pass before school begins to avoid classroom interruptions. You can email the Edison Attendance Office at SFSDEdisonAttendance@k12.sd.us
Lost and Found
Our lost and found is already full of items! We have all of the items out on tables in the lunch room. Please have your student check and claim what is theirs. All items will be donated over break!

Principal's Corner
Hello Edison Families,
It is hard to believe we are nearing the end of 2021. The first half of the school year has gone incredibly fast! This is a hectic time of year, and a lot of things are happening at Edison! Here are some highlights…
· Music Concerts- Concert season is upon us! We are fortunate to have many talented musicians at Edison and watching them perform is a treat! Thanks to our music directors Ms. Sundvold, Ms. Weflen, Mr. Jensen, Ms. Deinken, Ms. Sip and Ms. Abels for all their work with our musicians to prepare them for these concerts!
· Edison Variety Show- We have some extremely talented students at Edison and this week we will see them show off those talents. This is one of our favorite shows of the year!
· Student Council Blanket Making- Our Edison Student Council has been working on giving back. Their December focus is planning a blanket making event to make blankets for Project Warmup, which donates blankets to families in need. We are thankful for the donations of fleece to make this event happen at our school!
· MAP Testing- Next week on Monday and Tuesday we will be MAP testing. This will be our mid-year check to see the progress we have made from September to December. We have been working hard and are excited to see our students’ progress!
· PBIS Tardy Focus- Throughout the month of December, we have a school-wide focus of being to class on time! Our students have three minutes to pass in between periods, so there is no time to waste! This time of year, we tend to stray from the good habits we worked to build at the beginning of the year. A school-wide focus on being to class on time has refocused our student body on the importance of timeliness, which is a lifelong skill!
Although December has a lot of things happening, what is first and foremost in our minds is student achievement! We have approximately a month and a half left in this semester, and we want to finish strong! Remember you can see your student’s progress on Infinite Campus. If you need help accessing that portal, please contact the Edison office. If your student needs extra help, teachers are available to work with them during Directed Studies, as well as during our Edison EXTRA sessions.
We are reminded during the holiday season how fortunate we are to have such amazing staff, students, and families at Edison Middle School. Thanks for all you do to support our students. We wish you a very happy holiday season!
Sincerely,
Amber Blume, Principal

Student Council
The Edison Student Council, along with the Edison student body continue to find ways to give back to our community. Through the Edison STUCO STORE, held two times per month, we continue to raise funds to donate to organizations within our community. The funds raised during our November/December sales will be used to provide gifts to those currently living at the Heartland House. Along with this, the student council will be hosting a morning blanket making party to tie blankets to donate to project warm up. We are currently looking for donations of fleece to allow us to make as many blankets as possible. If your family is able to donate fleece, please send it with your child and have them drop it off in the office or with his/her PRO teacher by December 6th. As always, thank you for your continued support! Together, we are making a difference. Together we are better!
