What a great first week of school!

We have LOVED every minute of this first week of school with your children. There have been so many opportunities for new friends and new learning. We have all seen such a solid launch of what is to come for this year.

Thank you for all you do to help your child be ready to explore, learn and grow, everyday!

Morning Drop Off is Looking Great!

Thank you for taking the time to review the directions for drop off...this helps everyone each morning.

-The staff parking lot near Door #1 is one-way only in the morning during drop off. If you need to stop by the office for any reason and plan to use this lot, please enter the driveway at the east end of the lot and drive west. We have bus drop off in that lot in the morning and we can't have cars coming in the lot from the west.

-Please make sure, if you are using the designated car drop off area, your child is able to independently leave the car on the curb side of the drop off. Parents should remain in their cars in this lane.

-Parents must check in at the office to be able to enter the school building. Please do not enter through any doors with your children or ask other students to open doors for you. Thank you for saying your "good-bye's" outside. This helps our students with a smooth transition into their school day and allows us to know who is in the school building.

The drop off map with directions is linked HERE and at the end of the newsletter for your reference.

Changes to Parent Pick Up

Beginning on Monday, our 1st, 2nd and 3rd graders are going to have a slightly different procedure for parent pick up. All 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students who are being picked up by a parent will be walked out by a staff member (wearing a bright vest) to ensure a direct hand off. We are asking students to stay by our staff member until we see that an adult is available for each student. In the past, students have been excited to go play on the playground, and this is challenging to make sure we have had a direct handoff to parents. As usual, the staff member will wait with any remaining students near the car pick up lane until 3:50. At 3:50 any students who have not been picked up come directly to the office to begin to call family members. Thank you for your help in coaching your child to follow these expectations. Kindergarten students will continue to have a hand off from the kindergarten team and 4th and 5th grade students are dismissed independently at the bell.

4th and 5th Grade FIRST Robotics Team

We are looking for interested 4th and 5th grade students to make up this year's FIRST Lego Robotics Team. This team will meet once a week and complete in a regional tournament. There will be additional details shared in 4th and 5th grade homerooms, if your child is interested, please return the interest form to school.

We also need additional parents to support this program. The team will meet on Wednesdays after school in Hillcrest's library. We have one mentor who has already committed but having another two adults would be idea. Please reach out to Faith Lincicum, flincicu@waukesha.k12.wi.us, if you are able to help out!
