Omnikin Ball in PE!
Veteran's Day Assembly
Art is colorful!
During the Month of November we finished up our soccer unit. Students enjoyed playing sideline soccer as a culminating event. Grades 2-5 were also introduced to a new, and unfamiliar game, called Omnikin Ball. It is also known as Kin Ball. This game originated in Canada and involves lots of movement, hand/eye coordination, and cooperation skills. Students in grades K-1 worked on basic skills leading into the game (striking/serving and catching). In December, we will collaborate with Mrs. Oliver, the music teacher, to focus on the elements of dance! At the end of the unit (before the holiday break), students will be placed into groups to choreograph and perform a dance of their own!
Please remember to check the lost and found! Several students have left/lost things in PE class.
It is very important that all students wear tennis shoes to school every day! If your child in unable to participate in P.E. for a particular reason, please be sure to send a note with them. P.E. grades are based on participation and behavior in class. There will also be written assignments that the students will be graded on throughout the year. Students are not graded on their “athletic ability” but they are graded on their willingness to try all activities.
Students are working hard to prepare for their upcoming Christmas performances. These are FREE concerts. We welcome ALL!
Performance Dates are as follows:
K-3 Sweets with Santa - Friday, December 5 at 6:00p.m. Students need to arrive at 5:30p.m. in Christmas attire and report to the library.

This will be a fundraiser for the music program. You can purchase a cup of hot chocolate and 2 cookies for $1.00. All proceeds will go towards purchasing musicals for our spring performances. If you are interested in volunteering to help prepare and serve the night of the concert please contact Angela O'Keefe (angela.okeefe@bullitt.kyschools.us)

All students participated in a fundraiser called Art to Remember. Students drew self-portraits, butterflies, and houses which can be reproduced on coffee cups, tote bags, cell phone cases, and much more! Personalized order forms will be going home in early November. Just in time for Christmas!
In Topsy Turvy this month, we talked about Citizenship. The lesson focused on being caring and productive members of our class, school, family, community and world. What can you and your family do to be better citizens?
Scheduled Classes
Kindergarten classes spent time learning about and listening to Native American trickster tales featuring the well-known Tricky Rabbit and Tricky Coyote.
Grades 1, 2, 4 and 5 are seen on a weekly basis for book exchange.
Grade 3 began Native American research working in small groups using books and online resources.
Library Programming - November is Picture Book Month
We celebrated the magic of picture books by asking students and staff to share their favorite picture book. The theme was "Picture You with Your Favorite Picture Book". Pictures of students and staff with their favorites can be found on the Roby Library Twitter page (http://www.twitter.com) @robyeslibrary. You can also find pictures of students on the Roby Library webpage found at http://robyeslibrary.weebly.com. (Click on my name above and you will be linked to the webpage directly).
Students also shared their favorites by writing and drawing about their chosen book and some students were even featured on the Roby morning news show.
