Sheridan Star September 2022
30 Years and Still Shining Bright!
A Message from Your Principal
Welcome back to the 2022-2023 school year. This year our motto is, "30 years and still shining bright at Sheridan Elementary." This is even more true as we enter our 30th school year. It has been a fantastic start to the new school year. Yes, we faced a few challenges with dismissal, with our enrollment growth, but your Sheridan staff is working hard to ensure student safety is our top priority during dismissal!
We look forward to working with you and your child(ren). Learning begins at 8:15. Please make sure students are in the building by 8:15 so that instruction is not lost.
Due to our large enrollment, we are postponing lunch visitors. We hope to open the doors to lunch visitors soon. When the time comes, lunch visitors will be allowed Tuesday-Thursday. We will have designated tables set up for parents and their child.
Sheridan is an amazing school because of our students and you! I am starting my 28th year at Sheridan and can't imagine being anywhere else.
We look forward to partnering with you this year as we make Sheridan shine bright!

Subject: Notification to Parents of Teacher Qualifications
Dear Parent or Guardian,
At the beginning of the school year, parents of students attending a campus receiving Title I funds must be notified that they may request information regarding professional qualifications of your child’s classroom teachers.
The federal law requires the school district to provide you this information in a timely manner if you request it. Specifically, you have the right to request the following information about each of your child’s classroom teachers:
- If the teacher has met state certification criteria for the grade level/subject taught
- If the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status
- Qualifications of teacher aides or similar paraprofessionals who provide services to your child
If you would like to receive this information, you may contact Tameka Pressley at 281-897-1349.
Sincerely,
Rene’ McIntyre
