Morning Arrival Updates

Thank you for your continued support in helping our car line run as quickly and efficiently as possible. We are continuously looking for ways to improve this process, and your help is needed with the following reminders:

  • Please do not park your car in the car line. We have the elementary and middle school car loops available during morning arrival.
  • Students are in the full swing of learning and practicing school procedures, including knowing how to get to their classrooms. We are now asking that parents only use the parking spots if they have items to bring into the office. Parents parking and walking their students across the lot holds up the car line and creates more traffic.
  • Drop off at the middle school ends at 7:30. If you arrive after 7:30, you will need to use the GHES car line.
  • Students who arrive after 7:35 will need to be signed in at the front office.

Woo Hoo!

The students below were selected as our S.T.I.N.G. ticket winners this week! We are proud of our students for being Successful, Trustworthy, showing Integrity, being Nice, and having Gratitude. Keep it up, Hornets!

Who likes to WIN?!?! WE DO!

Parents! Did you know that the district now has an app? The FMSD app provides quick access to tools including the tip line, important school and district information, calendars, Peachjar, menus, and more! You can also "follow" GHES! We need your help. A district-wide competition is starting on September 23rd through October 31st to see which school can get the most parent followers. A prize will be given to the school with the most followers at each level, elementary, middle, and high school. Be sure to download the app starting MONDAY so you can help us out with this competition!

See the video below for more information on how to download the app! Let's go, Gold Hill!

Volunteer Opportunity

We are thankful for the Tega Cay Police Department and their willingness to provide traffic assistance for us in the mornings! Unfortunately, they are unable to continue doing so at this time. If you, or anyone you know, would be willing to help direct traffic in the morning from 7:05-7:35, please email Mr. Speziale at spezialef@fortmillschools.org. TCPD is willing to provide training for anyone who would like to volunteer their time. Thank you!

Read Your Way to the Big Game!

Help establish a strong literacy foundation for your child and support South Carolina & Clemson's championship traditions by participating in the South Carolina Department of Education’s Read Your Way to the Big Game contest.

The Read Your Way to the Big Game Contest is an annual reading event open to students in pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade in public, private, and home schools that encourages reading and literacy proficiency.

All pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade students who read six books will qualify to win tickets to the Clemson vs. South Carolina game on November 30. Once students have completed their readings, they should turn in the list of books read to their teacher. Two overall grand prize winners will receive four tickets and pre-game sideline passes to the Clemson vs. South Carolina game.

Schools with at least 70% student participation will be entered to win one of two $2,000 school library grants. Five participating teachers will be randomly selected to win $500 for their classroom. Two teachers and/or school library media specialists who has the best decorated bulletin board, wall or door will win $500 each for their classroom.

Visit SCReads.org for the full contest details!

Have a relaxing weekend, Hornets!
