General Announcements
Hello Bear Family!
We have completed another week of virtual learning and I think we are getting better at the process everyday. We look forward to showing all families the wonderful improvements to JMMES during the summer during our virtual Open House on Sept. 22. We will share the link to the virtual meeting on all of our platforms.
We will continue to keep you updated on any new information from the district regarding your children’s education. Our staff and students are working hard to keep academic progress as the top priority in our school. Please continue to contact the school with any concerns or questions related to technology or classwork.

All OKCPS families are eligible for this program since we are a CEP district. Families will either receive a P-EBT card in the mail or will receive additional funds on their EBT card if they are already receiving SNAP benefits.
OK Caring Van
The Oklahoma Caring Van is scheduled to come out to JMMES on October 5th from 10am to 2pm. No appointments needed, students can just walk up to the van with their guardians. All vaccines will be done in the van so there is no need to enter the school. We are targeting all 6th graders(rising 7th graders), Tdap and flu shots. However the van has all vaccines. This is a free service, so take advantage of the opportunity. Please click on the links below for the consent forms and Immunization questionnaire. You will need both completed in order to access the services. And no student will be seen without their guardian present.
Virtual School Information
Welcome to JMMES Virtual School. Following you will find information to help familiarize you and your student(s) with Virtual Learning at JMMES. Starting off, students will log into their first Virtual Course through Canvas at 9:10 am daily on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Each virtual course is approximately 35 minutes long with a sixteen-minute break at the end of each course. Students will attend seven online courses a day on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday according to their printed school schedule. The day end will officially end with the last course of the day at approximately 4:00 pm.
Students will not attend courses on Wednesdays. Wednesdays have been designed for Teacher Office Hours where you or your student(s) can make appointments with their teachers to check-in and/or seek assistance from their teachers. Wednesdays will also be used to provide student interventions and personal tutoring for students who may need additional support.
Below, please see an example of a student schedule so that you can review this with your student.

Common Sense Media Certification
Staff, our school is currently a Common Sense Media school.
Last school year OKCPS set a goal to become a Common Sense Media District and we are ecstatic to say that we were able to accomplish this goal!
In order for OKCPS to maintain District Common Sense certification, we will need to continuously teach digital citizenship best practices. The good news is Common Sense Media has a full K-12 curriculum created for teachers to use, and the ETS department has also created grade level modules within Canvas teachers can find in the Commons!
Our team has created a video to assist teachers with finding the modules in the Commons along with an explanation of how to use the resources.

Call Center Hours: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.
OKCPS recognizes the stressors our families and students face. In response, we have created a community call center which will be available during the 2020-21 school year.
