BWHS Assessment PD Update
We still have just two more Assessment PD sessions left for this staff meeting cycle. This Wednesday, 2/6, is "Assessing Understanding Without a Traditional Test." Our last one is Thursday, 2/6, "Small groups. Small groups. Small groups." I know having to reschedule multiple times has been a pain, but it appears we will be able to finally get these in. See you this week!
We (PAC) also cleaned up the wording on our Assessment Philosophy one final time. The final version is below. We felt adding "our" made a warmer statement and captured more of how we feel towards our students.
"Our students’ grades reflect multiple opportunities to demonstrate their level of achievement of skills and content."

Quote of the Week
I stole this quote from Matt Cox's Souders Newsletter. Even though I believe this entire quote is very applicable for any staff, it actually relates to what I have been trying to work on this calendar year (a resolution if you will). Occasionally, and I know this comes as a shock, I can be a touch stubborn and not as good as a listener as I want to be. I feel I do a decent job at the first sentence of the quote, but I really want to better with the section in bold both professionally and personally.
“Speaking the truth when you’re afraid or uncertain of the reaction can feel intimidating. Hearing the truth, it turns out, can be even harder. The things we most need to hear are often the things we’re most likely to reject. Make room in your life for people who care about you enough to say it without apologizing and hold you to it without compromising.” - Brian Kight
