Fieldstone Middle School * February 8, 2019
Dear Fieldstone Families,
Hopefully this winter has been a healthy one for all of you and you've been able to avoid the scourge of the ailments circulating. Our students have faced these cold and rainy weeks by staying busy during indoor recess and enjoying the fresh air when we are able to spend time outdoors.
While often sequestered indoors, we are weathering these months by staying engaged in challenging and relevant learning. Our teachers continue to focus on integrating experiences across content areas and consider the competencies necessary for success in today's world. An important aspect has been social and emotional learning which was the topic around which our recent professional development day was centered. On an going basis, we reinforce the importance of taking responsibility for one's actions while being sensitive to the needs of others.
Most recently, we participated in the "P.S. I Love You" movement along with Memorial Elementary School and the Montvale Police Department. This district-wide observance highlighted the critical competency of social awareness, which will be the focus of our advisory day later this month. Students and staff were encouraged to show our connectedness by wearing purple which represented our ongoing effort to spread kindness in order to decrease social isolation as well as to promote mental health awareness.
As always, if we can be of assistance to you or your family, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Please see below for additional topics of interest and the many reasons why it's great to be a Falcon.
All the best,
Health Office Update from Mrs. Halder
If your child will be absent from school, you must call Mrs. Halder, the school nurse, every day in the early morning before school starts. When you call, please include your child’s name and the reason your child is going to be absent. Children should come to school on time, but if your child must be late, call Mrs. Halder and include the reason for the lateness.
In order to protect the health of others in school, students must remain home for 24 hours after a fever or vomiting. If your child is sent home with a fever or because of vomiting, they must stay home for at least the next day.
The Lady Falcons showed tremendous growth and grit throughout the season. The girls came together and rallied around one another playing hard and competitive in each game. The future looks bright for our girls team!
Our boys basketball squad came into a hot streak, winning 4 games in a row! They improved with each practice and made a run at the playoffs, finishing with a 5-6 record.
