LAST WEEK! WOOHOO! WE MADE IT!
EOY PARTY:
Let's take a moment to celebrate the end of this school year by getting together at Cindy Elbrecht's house on Thursday June 1st. See you there!
AP INTERVIEWS:
I would like to have one representative from each grade level and/or department to serve on the AP interview committee. The interviews will be from 8:30-11:30 on Friday June 2nd. Please email me to let me know who will be the representative from your team.
EOY CHECKLISTS:
Please complete your checklist prior to leaving for the summer by having Janna, Alicia, Vickie, or Shanna sign the last item.
SUMMER EMAIL:
Please check your work email about once a week this summer for any updates.
REPORT CARDS:
Report cards go home on the last day of school, June 1st.
CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to Allison Cardwell, Anne Daly, and Jodi Hughes on receiving their Master's degrees from The University of Texas! Well done ladies! We are very proud of you and this important accomplishment. Hoot Hoot!
UIL:
Thanks to Diane Means for organizing the Doss UIL teams and to all the teachers / staff who supported the effort including Daniel Jones, Renee Francis, Alicia Hill, Tracy Sheridan, Nan- Hee Crawford, Stephanie Sweeney, Carol Wiley and Tina Morton! We had over 50 kids competing on Saturday at Davis Elementary! Doss kids shined!
PD 2017-2018:
The Anderson VT is asking the district for two additional professional development days for the 2017/2018 school year. Originally, we were told that this would require adding 5 minutes to the work day. However, that is not the case! Yeah!! The proposal is has been turned in for review and I will keep you posted in the status.
TAKE FLIGHT:
Tuesday 5/30 will be Take Flight small group parties during students' regularly scheduled pull-out times.
EXTRA SCHOOL SUPPLIES:
If you have any left-over supplies (composition notebooks, pocket folders with fasteners, glue sticks, pencils, bottled soap, Clorox wipes, Kleenex, erasers, etc.), Mi-Ae and Farah will gladly take them for next year. Thank you!
OWL'S NEST:
Do you have a student or family in need of clothing/shoes? We want any needy student at Doss to have the opportunity to come "shop" in the Owl's Nest before the summer break. Please send the name of these students to Shanna Riggsbee, and we will set up a time for them to come to the Owl's Nest.

COMPUTER LAB NEWS
The computer lab is now closed. I will be coming around to classrooms to help disconnect computers and Elmos for the summer.
Please donate any unwanted headphones to the computer lab. We loan the headphones out to kids that don’t have any. We have 8 classes come through the lab every day so our headphones get worn out pretty quickly. Thanks for your help!
LIBRARY NEWS
Books for Students in Need!
We are so fortunate to have such strong support for the library and for reading. During book fair this year, we collected $450 from our "Giving Tree" and with a discount from BookPeople, I was able to purchase 106 books for kiddos who otherwise may not have a brand new book. These new books will be delivered to you with a student name (please make sure you've responded to my email sent on 5/22) so that you can get them into backpacks and safely home. In addition, Sherrise stood in a line of 500 people at Half-Price Books and picked up 4 boxes of books! We are adding these to our books from the swap carts and discards so that we can get even more books to these students for summer reading.
Please plan on sending kids on Tuesday morning from 8:30-10:30 to choose their books. We will be set up in the library and have over 1000 books for kids to choose from--- we plan for each student to be able to select 8 books! If this window of time doesn't work, feel free to come and choose books for your students or let me know and I can pull some for you.
