SLS Update

September 18, 2020

Dear Librarians

Hope you all had a great week!

I realize that these are crazy times and that it may be difficult to focus on self care right now. But it is also so important that you do. You may find it helpful to you to come up with a written plan for yourself. I am reading The Distance Learning Playbook and the first chapter is all about self care. The PDF at the bottom of the newsletter is from this book. The book also has videos that go along with the book. This chapter has videos here on workspace, morning routines, stress management.

I have also included the links to our ebook resources and the BOCES Professional Development Catalog the Pulse. Below the pulse is some great information on the complicated, muddy waters of copyright during virtual learning. While the video is lengthy, it is very informative.

Copyright questions answered!

I know a lot of you have had questions about what is allowed or not in this new virtual learning world. The SLS director of Genesee Valley has shared a fantastic (but lengthy) video on this. To view it.

I have also added the PDF of the slides, where he gives case scenarios (below)
