Mrs. Turner's 2nd Grade - Week 6 News and Objectives
News
- Our September homework and reading log is due on Friday, 9/27. Please remember to have your child use only one page of their notebook per week to save paper (*not 1 page per day).
- We are lucky to have an iPad for each student in 2nd grade to use to extend our learning. To help your child focus and be successful, please send earbuds to school to plug into his/her iPad. They will be put into a ziplock bag with his/her name. *earbuds only, no headphones please.
- Please send your child to school prepared with their responsibility folder, and initial it daily. Thank you for your support!
Weekly Objectives
Weekly Essential: Accept the consequences for your actions
Our choices, both good and bad, have consequences, both good and bad.
Always think about possible consequences before making a decision.
Reading and Writing
Reading Focus: We will use reading strategies
to show comprehension of a story.
I will show my comprehension of strategies I have learned so that I can show mastery of my reading skills.
Writing Focus:
We will: compose literary texts, including personal narratives and poetry.
I will: compose a final draft of my story so that I will be able to compose a personal experience narrative.

Grammar
We will coordinate conjunctions to form compound subjects and predicates.
I will create sentences using compound subjects and predicates so that I can write complete sentences.
Math
We will recall basic facts to add and subtract within 20 with automaticity.
I will explore number relationships through properties of addition and subtraction, so that I can understand how patterns in numbers help us to better solve problems.
Science
We will classify matter by
physical properties, including shape, relative mass, relative temperature, texture, flexibility, and whether material is a solid or liquid.
I will classify solids, liquids, and gas and identify a physical property of each, so that I can understand that everything around me is matter.
