ThunderRidge Weekly Update
April 28, 2023
Patterson's Perspective
Grizzly Families,
I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend. It was fun to see so many of our upperclassmen kick up their heels at Prom. We had a great turnout. Thank you to our Student Government and staff for their time and commitment that went into making this event a huge success.
Next week is Staff Appreciation week. Thank you, ThunderRidge Staff, for all of your hard work and dedication to our students. I am truly grateful for each one of you.
We are entering the home stretch for the 22-23 school year, but we still have several important things coming up. Next week will be the start of AP and IB testing with Senior Finals starting May 8th. Please see the schedules posted below for important details on that.
We also have a lot of celebrating to do with the Underclassmen Awards Ceremony next Wednesday night, the SSN Awards Ceremony and Senior Celebration on May 11th, and the Senior Awards Ceremony on May 15th. Congratulations to all of the students who receive an invitation. We look forward to celebrating with you!
Thank you again for your ongoing support of ThunderRidge, our staff and our students. Please continue to keep an eye on your student's progress and grades so they can finish strong.
Have a great weekend,
Sean Patterson

Seeking Parent Members for the School Accountability Committee (SAC)
We are seeking candidates to run for the TRHS School Accountability Committee (SAC).
If you are a parent/guardian of a TRHS student who will be enrolled in the 2023/2024 school year and are interested in serving on this parent-led committee, we would love to have you run!
SAC meetings are public and open to all. Members of the SAC, which include parents/guardians elected by their peers, a PTO representative elected by the PTO, a teacher representative elected by their peers, a community member appointed by the Principal, and the Principal, have voting privileges and advise the school's administration on various issues. Responsibilities for all members are parent/guardian views on topics the SAC addresses including, but not limited to: budgetary decisions, the Unified Improvement Plan, and safety issues.
Terms for elected members are two years and are staggered for continuity. Members attend six SAC meetings during the school year. Meetings run no more than 90 minutes and are currently held in the late afternoon. Exact scheduling will be determined with members at the first SAC meeting of the school year.
There are currently three open positions. If more than three candidates are interested in serving on the SAC, we will conduct an election. Each TR parent/guardian will be allowed to vote. Once the voting window (TBD) has closed and the votes are tallied, the top vote-getters will be announced.
After the elected parent members of the 2023/2024 school year have been identified, election to officer positions within the SAC can be conducted according to the bylaws. More information can be found on the TRHS website under the Parent tab.
If you are interested in becoming a voting member of our SAC, please send your name and a short paragraph introducing yourself and why you would like to serve on SAC to
trhssac@gmail.com. Please respond by May 5 if you're interested.
Please direct any questions you may have to our current members at trhssac@gmail.com.
Thank you for your consideration.

IB Update
On Wednesday the group met for the first time this school year to discuss what has been going on in the IB World, ways in which both groups (parents and teachers) could work to better support one another, and brainstorm ideas moving forward. The meeting was a huge success and the group will be moving forward in the future, both this school year and into next, to strengthen the IB in our schools and within the community. We want to thank all of our parents who came last night, and to those who have voiced interest in future gatherings. If you would like to join our organization and work toward strengthening the IB please reach out to us at trhsib11@dcsdk12.org.
