Investigating the Skills Strand for Grade 1
NYSED has provided K-2 ELA Curriculum for districts to adopt/adapt in order to implement the Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS) in ELA. This workshop will provide participants with a deeper look at the Skills Strand for 1st Grade. Participants will examine the scope and sequence as well as be introduced to the protocols and instructional strategies utilized in this curriculum. It is recommended that participants attend the CCLS Foundational Skills Workshop prior to attending this course.

Event Information
Integrating Science using the K-2 Math Modules!
This workshop will provide participants the opportunity to create NYS-aligned Science lessons/units to support the Math Module Curriculum developed by Common Core, Inc.
Participants are asked to bring their Math Modules as well as any science materials they might want to incorporate.

Investigating Math Modules: Grade 4, Module 3
This workshop is designed for teachers who are teaching the math modules
- Read and discuss the Topic Openers and solve sample problems to see the overall path of the module.
- Represent multiplication and division using the models and explain how the models connect to a standard algorithm.
- Practice using the multiplication and division algorithms in the module.
- Work through the student work to understand the skills required to solve the problem sets, exit tickets, and homework questions.
