Classroom Math Updates:
Students are adjusting to the PBL format of math. We are really looking forward to exploring maths outside the classroom in the next semester.
Talking Math at Home:
The promise of a new year is just days away and with it a new decade! Will it be another "Roaring 20's"? Only time will tell! (Look at all that math talk!)
December's Talking Math at Home Challenge:
With the new year and decade almost upon us, it can be a great time for reflection. What dates will be coming up in the new year or decade that either have meaning to you and your family or could become a meaningful date? Some examples, a dear friend of mine, was married on August 9th and really enjoyed celebrating an anniversary on 8-9-10 almost a decade ago and my niece who will be married this coming February... on the 29th (does this mean I will only need to wish her a happy anniversary every four years?). What about national elections that are held in years that are divisible by 4? How do you know that a year is divisible by four without having to do the long division process?
However you celebrate the new year and decade, enjoy the fun of talking math that comes with all these numbers and dates. Safe and Happy Holidays, everyone!
