Principal's Post
Dear Trumbauersville Families,
As I watch and listen to the conversations about other districts trying to get their schools reopened and to create opportunities for their students to have in-person learning, I am grateful for all of the hard work of our school and our community. Collectively, we have been providing a healthy and positive in-school experience for our students since mid-September! Going forward, we can only sustain that with our continued partnership. Therefore, it is important that we continue to share information about student/family illnesses, family travel, etc. with our school nurse. This year is most definitely a year for an “all for one and one for all” mentality.
Every student has some aspect of at-home learning. Whether they are learning in a fully virtual setting, joining class virtually when they are temporarily out of school, partaking in a virtual day due to school closure, or meeting with teachers and small groups from 2:00 - 3:45 PM, at-home learning is a part of the 2020-2021 school year. Routines and structure will help to make that experience positive for the students. For some reminders and tips related to at-home learning, please see the NAESP Report to Parents which is featured below. Some of the main tips for successful learning at home include establishing consistent routines, limiting distractions and side conversations, and using pre-determined break times to support the students’ focus on the lesson. Overall, our students have been doing great this year with learning - at school and at home. However, we are seeing some evidence of “Zoom fatigue” and inattention that we did not see previously.
Keep your eyes on the weather forecast and your ears open for a possible SchoolMessenger notice about the pending snow. It is possible that we could start next week with a virtual learning day for all if we can’t be in school because of the pending snowstorm.
Thanks for all you are doing to support our students and our school!
Sincerely,

Opportunity for Online Support Group for Virtual Students!
Hello Trumbauersville families! Do you have a student who is fully virtual this school year that is struggling with the concept of schooling in the home or is just feeling disconnected? If so, sign them up to join our online counseling support group for virtual students! Myself and our ESAP counselor, Mrs. Bocklet, will be running a virtual group to help connect with some of our virtual students to see what we can do to further support them and make sure they are feeling included. Potential topics may include the following:
- Frustration management due to learning in the virtual environment.
- Coping skills for feeling sad about being separated from their peers.
- Anxiety and stress management due to virtual learning.
- Time management and organizational skills for learning at home, etc.
- A time to just chat and check-in!
This group would occur in the afternoon on a weekly basis for about five sessions. If you are interested in having your child participate, please complete the Google Form below and I will be in touch with additional details. I can also be contacted at lgordon@qcsd.org or at 215-529-2554 with additional questions or concerns. Thank you, we hope to “see” your virtual student soon!

Important Dismissal Note- Students must use crosswalks and not cross the street in between cars
Please pay attention to the end of day dismissal procedures and the three different dismissal routines: for walkers, for car riders, and for bus riders. This year is unlike any other as we have many more students who are getting picked up by a car at the end of the day. Currently, we have 55 walkers, 185 bus riders, and 126 car riders. While we work to have the car rider dismissal line move as quickly as is orderly possible, we recognize that it takes a few minutes. As a shortcut to entering the parking lot, I have seen a pattern of families parking across the street from the school and then students and parents are crossing the road. This is causing a dangerous situation where students are crossing in the middle of the road at a high volume time and between stopped or parked cars. If you or your student needs to cross the road at dismissal time, it is important that we use the crosswalks. There is one by the entrance to the bus loop and one by the entrance to the school parking lot.
I am grateful to the Trumbauersville Borough for the addition of the speed humps a few years ago. They have definitely helped to make the road in front of our school safer. The use of the crosswalks will also help to ensure that children are not walking in between cars and crossing the street with the potential of getting hurt.
If you are travel out of state
https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/coronavirus/Pages/Travelers.aspx
Please follow the state guidelines, if you are planning to travel out of state there are few things that you should do.
First, submit a trip request form to the office.
After you return home, you must either quarantine for 10 days or submit negative Covid-19 test results to the school nurse. After the nurse clears your children to school, then you can return to school.
FREE COVID TESTING- Open to children now
The Bucks County Health Department has recently expanded free COVID-19 testing to now include children who have exhibited symptoms of COVID-19 for at least 24 Hours.
This is in addition to school employees and contractors already eligible to be tested at these sites.
Every child must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian who will be responsible for administering the nasal swab to the child.
An updated flyer with location addresses, hours of operations, and registration information is attached.
We thank the Bucks County Health Department for expanding this free COVID-19 testing for symptomatic children in Bucks County!
In trying to serve all of our communities, we are offering a Virtual Family Night in Spanish. Two of our staff, Leslie Ramos, and Mariel Santiago will be hosting this interactive discussion surrounding the Pandemic, stress, self- care and resources. The entire session will be in Spanish.
The program will be offered on Zoom from 7pm-8pm on Wednesday, February 3rd. If you have clients that would benefit from this event, please share the flyers attached with them. There are English and Spanish versions of both flyers.
In an effort to make this as easy as possible for clients, below is the Zoom link.

Valentine's Day Cards
Valentine’s Day
All elementary schools in QCSD will be permitting the exchange of Valentine’s items. With permission from the classroom teacher and adherence to the following parameters, students may bring in a Valentine!
All Valentine’s must be sent into school by Monday, February 8. This will allow time for the items to sit for several days prior to being given to students.
No food items may be sent in.
Envelopes should not be licked.
If you would NOT like your child to receive Valentine's items, please email your child's teacher to inform them.
Students will be putting cards in a bag or box so they will be distributed in a contactless manner.
