SLE WEEKLY UPDATE December 16, 2022
Good Afternoon,
This week, our Reaching Higher Program completed its last session and held its ending ceremony on Tuesday evening. Special thanks are in order to Ms. Susie Dahlman, Mr. Ken Spratke, and all of the mentors that volunteered their time to work with our kids.
As we approach the final week of school for 2022, we hope you are planning to enjoy some much-needed rest and relaxation over the holiday break. If you are looking for an opportunity to get in the holiday spirit, our band and choir programs will be performing in their Winter Collage concert on Thursday, December 22nd at 7:00 PM in the SLEHS theatre. This is always a great way to kick off the season and see our talented musicians at the same time!
Student Council is hosting Holiday Spirit Week next week December 19th through 23rd.
The Spirit Days are as follows:
Monday - Your Best PJs
Tuesday - Red: Upperclassmen (Seniors & Juniors)
Green: Underclassmen (Freshmen & Sophomores)
Wednesday - Winter Whiteout
Thursday - Blizzard Gear (Hats, Scarf, Mittens, etc.)
Friday - Ugly Sweater
Thank you to our amazing families for the holiday treats for the Staff Christmas Cookie Exchange Extravaganza. Our staff appreciates your thoughtfulness. Special thanks go out to Laura Hogan for organizing this for us!
Have a great weekend and Be East!

REACHING HIGHER GRADUATION
BUS LOOP & STUDENT PICK-UP/DROP-OFF REMINDERS
As you know, we are piloting a change in the location of the bus loop and parent drop-off locations. The rationale for implementing this pilot includes minimizing parent traffic in our student parking lots on the west end of the building, providing a larger space for parent vehicles for pick up and drop off, expediting bus departure, and reducing the amount of traffic in the staff and visitor parking lots which ultimately will provide a safer environment for our students and staff as they enter and leave the building. This pilot will also help inform decisions regarding resource allocation for upcoming bond projects.
We ask that you please adhere to the following guidelines:
- School starts at 7:20 AM. You may need to adjust your departure time when coming to school in the morning to avoid tardies. Tardies to first hour are being enforced.
Parent Pick-Up/Drop-off - This is to be done at the Parent Drop-Off-Loop on the north side of the building, Commons entrance ONLY. This is the second driveway on your left as you turn onto Johns Rd. off of 10 Mile Rd. Parents are not allowed to park in the Staff Parking Lot and will be required to wait in line using the full loop outside of the Commons/Cafeteria doors. Please see the graphic below.
- Please pull as far forward as you can to drop off your student. Students may exit their vehicle anywhere along the sidewalk and proceed to the doors.
Please do not cut in front of buses as they are exiting the loop after school.
Student Parking - This is done in both lots on the west side of the building closest to the softball and baseball fields and tennis courts.
Bus Pick-Up/Drop-off - This is done at the Main Office entrance which is the first driveway on your left as you turn onto Johns Rd off of 10 Mile Rd.
Staff Parking - Office staff parks in the lot at the Main Office/Bus Loop entrance and teaching staff parks at the Commons/Cafeteria and Parent Drop-Off entrance.
Thank you for your patience.
