Remote Learning

Next week, our teachers will be working on providing learning paths for our students while they are away from school. At this point, we do not know what that will look like at each grade level. Once our plans have been developed, teachers will communicate those plans to you. In the meantime, IXL is still available for all students to access for Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies skills to practice.

2nd Grade Music Concert

With our school closures, this means our 2nd Music Concert will be impacted by this. We still want to find time for our 2nd graders to perform, even if it is "in school" for students. Once we come up with a plan, we will communicate that out to 2nd grade families. We will keep you posted.

Update on COVID-19

How do you talk to your children about the coronavirus? We know that many of you are asking this question. See below for a helpful video with recommendations on how to have those conversations with children.

How to Talk to Kids About the Coronavirus
Big picture

KDG Registration

We will need to reschedule our Kindergarten Registration Night. Once a new date has been determined, we will let everyone know.

State Testing

Our intention was to start state testing the week of April 6. With school closing until then, we do not want to start testing the week we get back from a long period off from school. Right now our intention is to push it back a week to start April 13. Unfortunately, our 5th grades also need to reschedule their Illinois Science Assessment that was going to be administered next week. The state testing window closes April 24. We will do our best to stretch testing sessions out so that our students are not overwhelmed with testing when they return. We will keep you posted!

Art News

Would you like a keepsake of your child's artwork from this year? Are you looking for a unique gift for a family member? This week students brought home a personalized order form from Art to Remember with a picture of their artwork. Each student has a unique code which you can use to order online at this website https://arttoremember.com/school/r6mxsl or you can send in a check with your order form to school. The last day to purchase items is Friday, March 20! Thank you for supporting the art program! Mrs. Hauser

Below is a blank order form and product page. If you need your child's online code, or have any questions, please contact me at mhauser@millburn24.net

School Yearbooks

The yearbook is looking fantastic and we would hate for your child to miss out on having one! The deadline to order is April 2nd. Follow this link to place an order. https://ybpay.lifetouch.com/Order/SelectStudent?isAdvertisementOnly=False

Minimal books will be available for purchase in the lottery, once they arrive. If you are unsure if you placed an order, please check your email for a confirmation.

2020-2021 Planning

We will soon be in the process of planning and placing students into homerooms for next year. Please find a letter below with some information on how this process works. As a reminder, class lists WILL NOT be sent via email over the summer. Parents will need to log into PowerSchool to see their child’s homeroom teacher once it goes live in August. Parents are encouraged to set up their accounts ASAP to access before the next school year begins.

Communication

We encourage all families to reach out to us (teachers, administrators, office staff) if you have any questions or concerns you would like for us to address. We aim to make our school the best learning experience for your child and your input is valuable in making that happen. Do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to help!
