What's Going On In The World Of Lafayette
Good Evening Lafayette Families,
It is the last week of school at Lafayette!
This school year brought many challenges and constant changes, but we made it to the end. I am so proud of the hard work and collaboration of our students, staff, and families. It has been a great year!
Reminders for the last week of school:
Early Dismissal
All students will be dismissed at 11:00 am this week (May 23 - May 26).
Field Day - Tuesday, May 24 and Wednesday, May 25
All students will be outside both days and should wear outside attire and bring a water bottle. Please consider applying sunscreen before sending your child(ren) to school.
Yearbooks
Yearbooks have arrived and will be distributed to those who have already purchased one. We have approximately 100 extra yearbooks available for sale on a first come/first serve basis. If you would like to purchase one, they will be sold for $20. A table will be set up in the front foyer by the cafeteria from 8:00 am - 8:30 am. We will accept cash or check(made payable to Lafayette Elementary).
Medicine Pick-up
If your child has a medication in the school clinic, this must be picked up by the last day of school. Medications are not stored over the summer. Unused medications that are not picked up by the last day of school, will be destroyed per school policy.
If your child needs their medication for summer school, please arrange this with your child's school nurse before the last day of school, so their medications are not inadvertently destroyed.

Lost and Found
If your child is missing any items, please stop by the school and check our lost and found. All items will be donated at the end of the school year.
Thank you again for a great school year. I hope you have a wonderful summer.
Fondly,
Courtney Wheeler, Principal

COVID INFORMATION
If your child is ill, please don’t send them to school. If they test positive for COVID-19, please call the school at 540-310-0029 and keep them at home. If your child is waiting for test results, please keep them home as well. Please, call the school if someone in your home has tested positive for COVID or if your child has been exposed and keep them at home until you speak with our team.
If your child has to stay home due to quarantine or isolation, please call us. We will be sure your child has work from school, their laptop/ipad, and that they are enrolled in our virtual learning experience “Second Shift Teaching”. A second shift teacher will zoom with your student after-school hours. Let your child’s teacher know if you need more information on Second Shift, if your child must stay home due to COVID-19.
Please, see our divisions protocols here (and on the website)
