First Semester Rollercoaster
Emma Lapeyre
Bi-Districts Champs!
Our determination and hustling finally achieved us something special! All of those days in the hot and suffocating gym, with no air condition, paid off. Welder did not come as prepared as we did. Our team played them earlier in the season and we crushed them. Since we worked the hardest the score started showing our effort. We won the first three games.
Fractured Ankle:( chrono
Basketball season finally began! Our first game against Mumford we won by 50 points. Our next 2 games we lost to very athletic and skilled teams. But our closest game was against North Zulch. One of our biggest competitors... Score was tied and Jade passed the ball to me. No one was open so I had to make some kind of move. I upped faked then drove to the basket and shot. Swooshed the shot but when coming down I landed on my defender's foot and instantly fell to the ground. My ankle felt disconnected and fast pain pulses pumped through my ankle area. Wanting to keep playing, I tried to stand and walk but failed horribly. Coach Sodek and Krebs carried me into the weight room. Cautiously, we detached the shoe from my foot and shoved it into an ice bucket. Within seconds of taking off my sock a humongous bump jotted off my ankle. My mother and Coach decided to take me ER. This doctor said it was only a bad sprain and I needed to check with another doctor in 24 hours but the problem was my family and I were driving to Louisiana to visit family for Thanksgiving. Instead of going back to the ER doctor in Texas, my Uncle hooked me up with a doctor he knows in Louisiana. This doctor said it was fractured and I needed to put a cast on for 4-5 weeks. Which means basketball til mid January.
Christmas Cruise
My sister, mother, and I are going on a Christmas cruise! Only problem is my ankle is still fractured and my cast is on. How am I supposed to go snorkeling with a cast I'm not allowed to get wet? Karen, my mother, is going to ask if I can get those boots on instead of a cast. Hopefully, he'll let me. If I'm still on the crutches too, my mom will rent one of those electric scooters and I'll be able to cut all the long lines because I'm technically "handicap".
