OUR VISION
OUR MISSION
GLOBAL OUTLOOK
FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Fort Families,
Welcome to a new year!!! Well, 2020 sure was interesting. I recognize the challenges that many have faced this past year. It has been both difficult and awakening for many of us. A year of reflection, growth and endurance. I did learn a great deal this past year, which is always a blessing and I am sure that many of those lessons, I do not want to repeat in 2021. My hope is that we can begin to see decreases in the influence of COVID in our world and increases in students returning to the building for school.
I can promise that we will continue to work at building a school that enables more and more students to be successful. We will continue to focus on developing sustainable practices and structures that will allow us to fully meet our long term improvement goal that: FVHS CIS is an aligned and well functioning school where increasing hope and opportunity is the daily focus and reality for every individual who chooses to be a part of our school. This goal is being supported through focused efforts on building around six key areas.
Being a Center for International Studies
Having strong Culturally Responsive practices
Developing mindsets and practices centered on AVID philosophies and strategies
Supporting student academic language development in every classroom
Building strong collaborative teams
Creating a culture and climate that invites all to participate and engage full with our school
These are the cornerstone focus areas for our school improvement. We have been working on these over time and will make even more steps in the year and years to come. I am grateful for our school community and I am looking forward to the learning that will come in 2021.
Take care,
Curt
FROM OUR DEAN OF STUDENTS
We want Fort to be a school where increasing hope and opportunity is the daily focus and reality for every individual who chooses to be a part of our school. As part of this effort, we have developed a site specifically for our families at FVHS-CIS. This site has content around Family Health and Wellness, Family Education, supporting Your Child at Fort, Community Resources, a Q&A page as well links to resources within and outside of Fort. Coming soon, we will be able to support virtual meetings in multiple languages with Fort Families, online "chats" with specialized staff (School Psychologist, Dean of Students, FCRC coordinator, etc.). By engaging with families and providing information and opportunities, we hope we are better able to increase hope and opportunity for all of our Fort Community. Come check us out!

You are my other me.
Si te hago daño a ti,
If I do harm to you,
Me hago daño a mi mismo.
I do harm to myself.
Si te amo y respeto,
If I love and respect you,
Me amo y respeto yo.
I love and respect myself."
