House Colors /HEART RUBRIC
Starting October 1, teachers may keep track of "house points" within your own classroom. You may give points for whatever you want. As long as you are consistent in your own classroom, it will be fair. At the end of every month, teachers will turn in house points. We will announce the house points and awards prizes. The prizes will vary from month to month. We will have a bigger award for the last week of school when we tally all the points for the year.
We will also add information into our morning announcements about what each house stands for and how it ties in to our PBIS HEART RUBRIC. Teachers will have options to include writing activities or other lessons to incorporate our house colors/HEART Rubric to make it more meaningful for students.
Each House Team will be a color but you will also have a name. Our names will correspond with the acronym for HEART, our district PBIS rubric.
Here is the following team names/colors:
Red: Honesty The Honestidad Team (Spanish)
Green: Effort The Esfuerzo Team (Spanish)
Yellow: Attitude The Aragti Team (Samali)
Blue: Respect The Rispetto Team (Italian)
Orange: Teamwork The Teamarbeid Team (Norwegian)
Virtual Parent Teacher Conferences
As mentioned earlier in the year, parent teacher conferences will be done virtually this school year. Please plan to schedule your own conferences with parents between October 12-30th.
Quarter 1 ends on October 16. Report cards are being sent on October 28th. Fall Break is October 19-23. Please schedule your conferences based on when you will have final grades and data collected for your parents.
We want to be flexible and allow teachers to schedule virtual conferences based on what works best for you.
How to Schedule Virtual Parent Teacher Conferences
1. Create a parent-teacher conference signup schedule. Either build your own signup sheet and disseminate it via email or use a web platform like SignUpGenius to create an online interactive schedule. Be sure to include instructions on how to access each one.
2. You may find the easiest way to schedule a parent-teacher meeting is by simply making a call, sending a form home, or sending an email. At the beginning of the year all teachers were asked to collect parent contact information. However, if you don’t know a parent’s email address or phone number or the information you collected is no longer working, please ask either Deb Davidson or Tammy to assist you.
3. Please sign up in the teachers lounge, the number of conferences you will be holding that will involve a Spanish Speaking Interpreter. Kelly Johnston, Denise Diaz Hernandez and Jennifer Escobedo will be working with teachers to schedule available times for these conferences.
4. If parents are not willing or able to hold a zoom conference, please offer a phone conference.
5. A "sign in" sheet of your conferences will be placed in your box this week. You will complete the child's name, parent who attended, type of conference, and date. This will be turned in when you have completed your conferences.
6. Hopefully, you will have 100% parent participation and these interactions will ultimately benefit your students and make your school year much more productive and student-centered.

It might be anything from a read aloud to a STEM lesson or project based learning activity. Many of our days cover cultural awareness, careers, and other days that are covered in our curriculum, specifically the following:
