Monthly Newsletter for Decatur Middle School
Fall is one of my favorite times of the year! Leaves change color, fires are lit, and we seem to consume more hot chocolate....we have so much to be grateful for.
The great country we live in with the freedoms we enjoy is one of the many things our Decatur Middle School family is grateful for. We celebrate and honor those who protect and serve our country at our Veterans Day Program, which will be on Monday, November 12th, 2018 starting at 8am. We would love to have anyone who has served or is currently serving in our armed forces attend. An invitation with more information was sent home with students this week. Please contact our office if you would like more information.
Thanksgiving Break is November 19-23 and school will NOT be in session. We hope you will be able to take some time to rest and relax with family and friends.
On Wednesday, November 28th from 6-8pm, there will be an Open House at Decatur Central High School for middle school students who will start there next year. This is an opportunity for students and parents to check out each SLC at the high school and see what they have to offer.
Thank you to all our parents who support our school. Your involvement means so much to our teachers, staff and students. Our first PTO meeting of the 2018-19 school year will be on Tuesday, November 13th from 6-7pm in the Decatur Middle School cafeteria. We hope you will be able to attend.
We are Decatur Proud!
Veterans Day Program
Decatur Middle School would like to invite all veterans, reservists, and active duty personnel from all branches of the American military to to a special recognition program on Monday, November 12th. This program is being held to honor those men and women who have protected and defended the rights that we enjoy as Americans.
The program will be held in the gymnasium. It will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will last approximately 45 minutes. Coffee and donuts will be available in the cafeteria starting at 7:30 a.m. prior to the program. Students escorting a veteran should report directly to the cafeteria to greet their guest. You may enter either through Door 1 or Door 6 West.
RSVP forms were sent home on Friday, November 2 with your students to reserve your place in the program. We look forward to seeing you!
