Dolphin Dialogue

January 7, 2022

Dear Naples Families,

First of all, I would like to thank all of you for calling in your absences, completing the Google absence form, and for promptly returning our calls from the office. This is a prime example of how a community works together to keep all of our families safe. This also saved valuable school resources so we could focus our sights on the daily workings of the school. Thank you!

Just to clarify, when the school sends out a general notification notice, it means that there was one confirmed case of Covid on campus. If your child was a close contact, we will immediately call to inform you and follow up with an emailed Exposure Notice with detailed instructions on how to proceed. Each student's option is individualized and will be discussed over the phone with you. If there are two cases in a classroom, the LB Health Department will ask that all unvaccinated students be tested as a precaution. Most of the time, we can support the testing here at school, but you may also use the city's new testing site dedicated to LBUSD staff and employees.

I know this has been tough on everyone, but your support and open communication have really helped us to move quickly with implementing mitigation efforts. If your child is in isolation at home, please be sure to contact their teacher so you have access to the work on Canvas.

Thank you for another great week on the island!

-Paula Spenker

Project Cheer!

We delivered 60 jackets before the holiday, and they were much needed because the program had ZERO on hand. Because some parents expressed the possibility of getting jackets after the date of 12/16, we left a collection box in the lobby!

It’s not too late to bring socks, hats, gloves, and jackets to school if you missed it! We look forward to bringing Bethune a second delivery so we can continue to help Long Beach kids in need.

Thanks to the parents on the Project Cheer for making this happen, and thanks to all of you for being so generous!

Calling all 5th grade parents!

Please join the Naples PTA 5th Grade Committee to help plan activities and make their last year as a Dolphin a memorable one! We would love to have a kickball game, picnic, and other planned activities. Please contact your room parent for more info and let her know you would like to help! These events can’t happen without your support!
