Spirit of Kindness Week
Monday, 12/16 - Everyone has a Name Day. Teachers and students make name tags to wear all day on this day. We will talk about the importance of calling people by their name and how one of the easiest possible ways to show kindness to someone is to remember their name and use it. Older students are encouraged to greet younger students by their name as well as people they don't normally talk to.
Tuesday, 12/17 - Mix it Up Day. At lunch and recess, students are encouraged to eat and play with someone they've never spent much time with before. Eat and play with someone other than your friends and make sure no one is alone at lunch or recess. Try spending some time with a person that you normally don't hang out with or don't know very well.
Wednesday, 12/18 - Favorite T-shirt Day. Today, wear a shirt that shows something you love or are passionate about. It could be your favorite sport, favorite movie, favorite character, favorite team, favorite band or singer, etc. Look for people who may have the same interests as you and talk to them about it - whether you know them or not!
Thursday - 12/19 - Random Acts of Kindness Day. Staff and students are urged to perform random acts of kindness all day today. Emphasize that this doesn't always mean spending money on someone. It could be something as simple as writing someone a note to let them know how much you appreciate them, smiling at strangers, or being sure that you leave your breakfast/lunch area clean for the custodians.
