FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Father Doyle Families,
How blessed we are to be preparing for the coming of Christmas together as a school community!
While our Christmas Concert has been postponed (see below for more details), many other preparations have continued as we enter the last week of Advent. This includes the opportunity for confession for all students in grades 3-8, the celebration of Mass as a school community (with our buddies across the grade levels!), our annual Jingle Mingle and Tree Lighting, the annual Christmas Shop presented by the PTO, an incredible Christmas performance by the Hendricken Jazz Band (see photos below!), and, coming up this Sunday, December 18th, the Blessing of the Creche and Christmas Carol Sing Along with Fr. Woolley!
That's right, this Sunday, December 18th at Ss. John and Paul Parish, Fr. Woolley will be leading the Christmas Carols on his guitar! The festivities begin at 12:30pm with the blessing of the Nativity Scene on the front lawn of the Church, followed by Hot Cocoa, snacks and Carols in the Parish Hall. Admission is free, and song books will be provided! All students and families are welcome!
Update from the School Nurse - 3 Day Absences & Doctor's Note
This week the school was notified by RIDOH that, due to the increase in flu, RSV, and other respiratory viruses, and, in order to ease the burden on the both the healthcare system and families during this winter season, it is not necessary to require a doctor's note for an absence of three or more days.
Please see the full publication from the Department of Health here for more information. A reminder to please call the school by 9am to notify them of your child's absence. Thank you!
Christmas Concert Rescheduled - January 6, 2023 - The Feast of the Epiphany
Due to Mrs. Gagnon's recent illness, as well as the impact of the cold and flu season to date, the decision has been made to postpone our annual Christmas Concert. The new date for the concert is Friday, January 6, 2023 - The Feast of the Epiphany. It is a fitting change, as the Epiphany is the feast that marks the conclusion of the Christmas season in the Church and celebrates the revelation that Jesus truly is the Messiah, the Son of God. What better way is there to celebrate this great feast than with this tremendous performance!
We know that some families who were previously planning to attend this Thursday may not be able to accommodate the new date. With this in mind, please take a brief moment to RSVP for the new date by clicking the link here. Please RSVP no later than Monday, December 19th.
Please note, the concert will begin at 6:30pm, and students are asked to arrive at the Church between 6:00pm and 6:15pm.
NEW PROGRAM: Little Foodies: Tuesdays, 2:35pm-3:35pm - January 10th - March 21st
In Little Foodies, open to students in grades PK-2, students will learn how to read ingredients and use math for measuring while creating delicious treats! They will then put their knowledge to the test by creating their own recipes. The program will culminate with a Little Foodies bake sale! Register for Little Foodies here. The cost for the program is $180 for all 10 sessions.
NEW PROGRAM: Creative Writers: Thursdays, 2:35pm-3:35pm - January 12th - March 23rd
In Creative Writers, students will enhance their writing skills while learning to work together as a team in a creative setting. Program includes opportunities to brainstorm and create original story ideas, sharpen writing skills and techniques, and provide feedback and advice to peers, all in a fun, engaging environment. Register for Creative Writers here. The cost for the program is $175 for all 10 sessions.
LAST CALL: Parent Survey - Start of the 2022-2023 School Year
Each year in late November or early December Father Doyle School sends a survey to all current families to provide feedback, thoughts, and comments on the start of the school year. We highly encourage all families to complete the survey to help continue to shape the future of Father Doyle School! You can find the survey link here. Please complete your survey no later than Tuesday, December 13th. Thank you!
Don't forget to keep scrolling below for photos and more information! Have a great weekend! God bless, and Go Saints!
