A Message from Jeff and Yolanda
This week brought lots of good news. First of all, congratulations to ELCATE teacher, Gracie Somoza's students, whose essays were selected by the Florida Literacy Coalition for inclusion in the 2016 adult learner essay book Going Places:
- Sandra Andre - My Dream in Life
- Carlos Mena - The Challenge to Succeed
- Henry Bernwy - Thanks to Life, Which has Given Me So Much
- Liz Fernandez
The book will be unveiled at the Florida Literacy Coalition Annual Meeting in Orlando on May 4th. The students participating in Adult Learner Day get to read their essays at the annual meeting.
We also received a call this week from Erika of Thalheimer's Jewelers, who, in memory of her late brother-in-law Bruce Thalheimer, made a $7,500 donation to Tony Singleton and the Aviation Program. The funds will be used for aviation students who will be participating the National SkillsUSA competition this Summer.
Finally, at Tuesday's CCPS Board meeting, Building 7 modifications were approved for renovations to start this summer. Building 7 modifications will allow us to further grow the HVAC and Welding programs. Speaking of HVAC, as a result of the CCPS proud tour a week ago, the Naples Daily News reporter came back to write a story on the program which will be featured this week in the NDN. Be on the look out for it.

The Esc key (top left of the keyboard) means, “close this” or “cancel this.” It can close a menu or a dialog box, for example.
You can duplicate a file icon (instead of moving it) if you press the Alt key as you drag it out of its window.
You can switch among open programs by pressing Alt+Tab (or Command-Tab on the Mac). On the Mac, the much less known Command-tilde (the ~ key, upper left corner) switches among windows in a single program.
