Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited about the 2016-2017 School Year!
With your cooperation, we can create a safe and caring environment for all Ardmore students.
Please adhere to the following guidelines concerning the arrival and dismissal of students.
These guidelines are effective throughout the entire school year.
- The driveway begins at the street level. Vehicles are not permitted to enter the driveway from 7:25 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. and from 1:25 p.m. to 2:10 p.m.
- Parking is permitted on the eastern side of the driveway only .
- The western lane is the parking lot bound lane. It is appropriately marked with the Fire Lane signs.
- Parking is not permitted in striped lined areas, rounded curbs, and in the stretch of driveway leading to the red banisters.
- Parents must use the car lane only. Bus lanes are off limits for vehicles.
- Students are to exit vehicles from the passenger side only.
- Vehicles must be in the park position in order for students to disembark at the curb inside the car lane.
- Parents may enter the driveway as late as 7:25 a.m. Students attending Before and After Care must enter school before 7:30 am.
- U-Turns are not permitted in the middle of the parking lot or driveway at any time.
- Parents are encouraged to use the western lane of the street, allowing students to walk up the sidewalk.
Our goal is to ensure safe passage for all students, staff, parents, and guardians.
Thank you for your immediate attention to these changes.
Sincerely,
Georgette Gregory
Principal
NWEA MAP ASSESSMENT RESOURCES FOR PARENTS
You may be familiar with paper and pencil tests where all students are asked the same questions and spend a fixed amount of time taking the test. Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP® ), created by Northwest Evaluation Association™ (NWEA™), is different. MAP is a computer adaptive test, which means every student gets a unique set of test questions based on responses to previous questions. As the student answers correctly, questions get harder. If the student answers incorrectly, the questions get easier. By the end of the test, most students will answer about half the questions correctly.

We appreciate all of you! Ardmore celebrates your dedication in the lives of our students!
On September 13, Amari Childs, a sixth grade student from Ardmore Elementary School, kicked off the 2016-2017 Washington Redskins Reading Program during half-time at FedEx Field Stadium. Amari received a warm welcome from the Washington Redskins’ Charitable Foundation Representatives along with a special tour of the Washington Redskins dressing room. She was given the opportunity to watch the Washington Redskins vs.The Pittsburgh Steelers game for free!
Redskins Read Program runs from September 2016 to March 2017 and is open to all 4th and 5th grade students. Participating schools receive copies of Redskins Read Playbook and log time spent reading books. Playbook writing prompts encourage students to think critically and logically.
This year’s playbook features original graphic arts and drawings from talented and gifted students of Ardmore Elementary!
Ardmore Elementary School currently holds the 2015-2016 Reading Champions Title!
Our goal this year is to strive to keep that title!
Thank you to the Washington Redskins for their continued partnership with Ardmore ES!
