Reading/ Language Arts

We won't be doing a StoryTown story this week, so there will be no comprehension or vocabulary tests. There will still be a spelling test though!

This week we will be learning some new skills, such as figurative language, and practicing some skills we need some more work on.

Each student has a reading log in their take home folder with their Book It! goal on the back. When the student reaches the reading goal, they get a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut! I am so proud of how many students reached their October reading goal and got their first free pizza! Let's get even more minutes in November!

A November book order has gone home and a December book order will be going home and ordered in time to receive the books before Winter Break. If you order anything that you would like for me to not send home with your child, just let me know and I can keep it hidden somewhere!

We have finished up learning our multiplication facts and strategies to help us solve multiplication problems. This week, we will begin learning about the relationship between multiplication and division.

Every week, we will be working on our math facts using Math-A-Minute. Math-A-Minute is a program used to help students master their basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts. Once a student masters a level, they move on to the next level. It is vital that students have a full mastery of their basic facts so we will be practicing a lot! You should be seeing little slips of paper with math facts on them coming home in take home folders. If your student didn't finish, or missed a problem, help them practice and they will try again the next time we do Math-A-Minute!

Science/ Social Studies

This year, our third grade science skill is "forces" and our third grade social studies skill is Oklahoma History. We will be working on these topics throughout the school year.
