The Pizitz Post

For Students, Parents & Families - November 1, 2021

Just last week...

Every week is a good week at Pizitz. Last week, I was particularly grateful to see all of the activities in classrooms that are helping to sharpen our students hearts and minds. In the classroom, our students were collecting evidence to defend his/her case in a debate in 8th grade English while others were learning the parts of a cell in 7th grade science. In choir, our students recorded the national anthem, and in band our students celebrated their work with a virtual concert on Friday. In 6th grade, we had our first party to fundraise for our SGA's selected philanthropy- On the River. Many of our students and staff joined in the fun by dressing up on Friday, too.

On the court, our basketball teams held a scrimmage against one another as they prepped to play their first games this week. Earlier in the week, our bowling team lead their team to victory in their match against Simmons. Wrestling is underway, too.

It is fun to see students making progress over time. We are asking students- what are you learning - pushing them to think about their work. More than completing activities, we hope they find purpose in their work, and see that through their classroom experiences, they will learn. I am grateful for the work of our teachers and coaches who stand on the sidelines to support our students every day. I witnessed our teachers' support first hand on Friday afternoon at the sixth grade dance. They jump in to enjoy the fun WITH THE KIDS- and that makes all the difference.
