EOC Test Administrator Training
We kick off EOC testing next week, and as always, it will take an all-hands-on team approach to tackle this large task.
Thank you to those who have already completed their EOC Test Administrator training and dropped your certificate into the shared folder. If you have yet to do so, please see the directions below:
We need every teacher in the building to complete the Test Administrator training in the TA Interface system so they can administer tests when needed. After completing the training, you need to place the PDF of your training certificate in the Shared EOC Test Administrator Certificate Folder.
Below are the resources and steps to access the EOC Test Administrator Training.
Review the Test Administrator Manual.
Complete the General TA Certificate for online training on the TA Practice site. This digital overview will refresh you on how to use the TA Interface. Once you access the TA practice site click on the icon below to access the training.
Log in and make sure your username and password are working. You should be using your school-issued email, but you may have to reset your password if you have yet to log in this year.
All Test Administrator Training Certificates must be dropped in the Shared EOC Test Administrator Certificate Folder by April 13th.
Every teacher in the building has a role during EOC’s whether it be proctoring tests or giving breaks to test administrators, so you must take some time to review your EOC proctoring assignment, testing rosters, and the delayed start schedule linked below.

OLD NEWS
Final Exam and Test Waiver Process
The following will be shared with parents and students tomorrow in the HS News & Notes. It outlines the testing waiver process and eliminates the finals for AP courses. It also shares the expectation that students WILL TAKE FINALS even if they have travel plans on the day exams are scheduled. It states that students will work with teachers to schedule exams early, but they may need help to accomplish that. Teachers/departments should set their standards for how they wish to accomplish exams being taken before. I suggest exams be taken after school on the day(s) established by the teacher. However, if a staff member wishes to allow class time or their free period to do so, that is their choice. If no time before is established, the week after school lets out tests can be left, and students can come to school to take an assessment delivered by the administrator. We will need to be able to provide and score these assessments, so please make that something that is easy for Josh, Kelli, and me to do.
Final Exam Schedule and Planned Absence Procedures Announced
Due to the later-than-normal conclusion of the school year, we have received several inquiries about how students can take their required final exams in case of a planned student absence. Please be aware that all students are expected to take their final exams during the regularly established final exam window. However, we understand that legitimate reasons for absence during scheduled exam days will occur. However, it may only be possible for some students to take exams before the regularly scheduled exam date.
If you anticipate that your student will be absent from school during the scheduled final exam window, please submit the planned absence form to the Assistant Principal’s Office as soon as possible for approval. Students cannot schedule alternative exam dates with their teacher if the planned absence form is not submitted. It is the responsibility of the student and family to schedule an alternative exam date. If an exam date cannot be established before the regularly scheduled exam window, students can schedule a makeup exam at BBHHS the week of June 19th.
If any required final exam is not completed, the student will receive a failing grade on the assessment, which will be factored into the final grade for the course. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Final Exam Waiver Opportunity
We are excited to share that the Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School faculty and administration have adjusted final exam requirements for courses that already include an end-of-course assessment structure. Students will have the option to waive the required final exam for courses where significant data points are already available to teachers, students, and families. We believe this change will positively impact students and reduce their time spent preparing for exams where sufficient evidence of learning exists. Students will also still be given the opportunity to take the final exam for any course if they and the teacher agree that it is in the student’s best interest to demonstrate achievement and learning.
Courses eligible for final exam waiver include:
All College Board Advanced Placement courses
Ohio State Test-Assessed Courses
Algebra I
English Language Arts 10
Block, Academic Geometry, and Honors Geometry
Academic Biology and Honors Biology
Academic Government and Honors American Government
Academic American History and Honors Academic History
College Credit Plus English 1020
College Credit Plus Calculus 2023
Advanced Placement and CCP Course Final Exam Waiver Structure
To ensure students are well prepared for their Advanced Placement exam and to qualify for the final exam waiver, the student must demonstrate/agree to the following criteria for exam waiver consideration for Advanced Placement courses:
Students must take the Advanced Placement exam for the associated course
Students must be on track to earn a C or better for the final grade in the course
Agree that the 4th quarter grade is “carried over” and factored into the student's final grade
Students will have the opportunity to take a final exam at their request during the regularly scheduled exam period for the course*
Ohio State Test-Assessed Courses
Students taking courses with an Ohio State Test component can also waive the final exam requirement. To ensure students are well prepared for their Ohio State Test and to qualify for the final exam waiver, the student must demonstrate/agree to the following criteria for exam waiver consideration for all scheduled Ohio State Test courses:
Students must take the Ohio State Test as scheduled for the associated course
Students must be on track to earn a C or better for the final grade in the course
Students must earn a score of a 5, 4, 3, or 2 on their Ohio State Exam (students scoring a 1 must take the scheduled exam)
Students will have the following options to select from to determine their final exam grade:
Tie Final Exam grade tied to the earned EOC score (5-A, 4-B, 3-C, 2-D, 1-must take final)
or
4th Quarter Grade Extends to Final Exam grade
Students will have the opportunity to take a final exam at their request during the regularly scheduled exam period for the course*
