Take a Peek into Room 404!
Week of August 26, 2013
Highlights for the Week
Welcome to our class family!
I am thrilled to be teaching 4th grade and to get to know you and your child this year!
Building Our Class Family
We will begin to build a sense of community and family within our classroom with several different activities and lots of discussion about how to make our classroom safe and efficient for learning and meeting the needs of every student.
Students will complete a unique leaf for our class family tree for homework this week. They can use real photos, draw and color, cut out of magazines, or pretty much whatever they want to express and share who they are and what they like. Each student is a special piece to complete our class family puzzle and we want to honor that!
Reader's Workshop
The purpose of reader's workshop is to build a sense of enjoyment for reading within each student. This week we dig into our reading identities and discover who we are as readers. We will also do some goal setting and prepare to learn the procedures for reading instruction this year.
Writer's Workshop
The goal for writer's workshop is not just to write. The students should become and feel like a writer everyday. To start off, we will think about why we write and set the stage for building each other up as writers. In a safe environment, students will learn how to communicate and encourage each other in the writer's workshop.
