Bear Valley Bugle
November 2022
November is Full of Gratitude
November is here. We have a lot to be thankful for this month. Thank you for taking time to attend parent-teacher conferences at the end of October. The partnership we create between classroom and home is so critical in the success of our students. Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we navigate the bussing changes. We are all thankful to have 2 busses return to us regardless of cohort, that means we are filling positions and moving in the right direction.
We were thankful that so many students read for the Election Week Reading Challenge! Over half the school participated, way to go Bear Valley!
We were thankful to have our SRO Officer Mitchell and Sgt. Simmons come and talk with the 6th grade students about safe internet use, cyber bullying and other bullying. The more we can talk to our students about safely using technology the better. There are many ways to help your child stay safe on the internet. Here is a website that can help you work with your child on internet safety and feeling safe in general. https://www.stopbullying.gov/resources/how-to-talk-about-bullying See below in the resources area for more articles related to device safety.
Thank you for supporting our Bear Valley Student Council Food Drive! It was incredible to watch 2 large dumpsters, 4 large trash cans and overflowing vehicles of food delivered to the Food Bank of Alaska! We will have a total amount next week, but it was well over 4,000 pounds. More than any other year. Thank you to Northern Waste, Vulcan Towing and families for supporting this incredible donation effort, just in time for the holiday season. If you still wish to donate, the Food Bank Of Alaska Thanksgiving Blessing donation info can be found here: https://foodbankofalaska.org/blessing/
