A Magical Finale to "The Wiz" – A Show to Remember
We bid farewell to an enchanting and unforgettable series of performances of "The Wiz" at Longleaf School of the Arts. The stage came alive with energy, talent, and sheer magic, leaving the audience in awe and applause.
A special round of applause and heartfelt gratitude goes to our exceptional student director, Jill Marie Harris. Jill's creative vision, leadership, and tireless efforts were instrumental in bringing "The Wiz" to life. Her passion for the arts shone brightly, and we are incredibly proud to have such a talented young director guiding our theatrical endeavors.
We also extend our deepest appreciation to our esteemed Theatre Director, Mrs. Virginia Smith. Mrs Smith's guidance, mentorship, and unwavering support have been integral to the success of this production. Her commitment to nurturing the talents of our students and fostering a love for the performing arts are evident in the outstanding performances we witnessed.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the dedication of our remarkable cast and crew. Each member brought their unique talents and charisma to the stage, creating a magical experience for the audience. The vibrant and dynamic performances truly transported us to the whimsical world of Oz.
We extend a special thanks to Mrs. Autumn Best for her invaluable contributions in the technology booth and with creating merchandise and to Ms. Elise Janson for the creative dance choreography . Also, our Theatre Boosters play a crucial role in supporting our budding actors and ensuring the success of each stage of our productions such as providing meals, headshots, playbills, and set production support.
Last but certainly not least, a heartfelt thank you goes out to the parents and families who supported our young performers every step of the way. Your encouragement, late-night pickups, and unwavering enthusiasm contribute immeasurably to the success of our theatre program.
"The Wiz" has been a magical journey for all involved, and we are incredibly proud of the talent and passion displayed by everyone. The memories created on stage will linger in our hearts, and we look forward to more spectacular performances in the future. The Million Dollar Quartet is up next!
Thank you for being a part of this extraordinary theatrical adventure!
Celebrating Our Exceptional School Counselors during School Counseling Week
As School Counseling Week approaches, it's the perfect time to shine a spotlight on the incredible individuals who play a pivotal role in shaping the educational journey of our students at Longleaf School of the Arts. We are fortunate to have a dedicated team of four certified counselors, three of whom, Mrs. Brooklyn Winters, Ms. Kristen Glees, and Ms. Caitlyn Norton, are assigned to students, along with Ms. Drew Hutchins, who works diligently at the front desk. Together, they contribute immeasurably to the positive school environment we cherish. They are a collective force, providing guidance, support, and encouragement to students navigating the challenges of adolescence.
Our counselors are beacons of support during both academic and personal journeys. Their warmth, empathy, and insightful advice create a safe space for students to share their concerns and aspirations. With a keen understanding of the academic landscape, they work tirelessly to ensure each student is on a trajectory toward reaching their goals. Advocating for students extends beyond the school walls, as they collaborate with parents, teachers, and even at the front desk, where Ms. Hutchins assists with a warm and welcoming demeanor.
Our team is committed to fostering growth and resilience. Empowering students to overcome obstacles, teaching essential life skills, and providing guidance on various aspects of their educational journey, they consistently embody the essence of caring mentors.
This School Counseling Week, let's take a moment to express our gratitude to our outstanding team of school counselors and staff. Their unwavering dedication, kindness, and support contribute to the positive school environment we cherish at LSA. We encourage students, parents, and colleagues to show their appreciation for these exceptional individuals who make a lasting impact on the lives of our students. Your words of thanks, small gestures, or simple notes can go a long way in acknowledging their incredible contributions.

A Note on Attendance
School attendance will always be of significant priority here at Longleaf School of the Arts. Not only is school attendance mandated by law, but we pride ourselves on being able to help our students prepare for college and the outside world through our 16-day force failure policy, which states that "in order for a student to receive credit for a class at Longleaf School of the Arts, the student must not be marked absent for more than sixteen (16) days per year." Please be aware that the school will send home letters for all documented absences, whether excused or otherwise noted. While we understand that circumstances beyond our control occur, we ask that you provide documentation to support any absences your student may have throughout the school year. All absences can be reported on the school website through the following link: REPORT AN ABSENCE. If you have any questions about attendance or the forced failure policy, please contact Mrs. Victoria Jones, LSA's school social worker.
