A Note From Ms. Frehner

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a nice, relaxing weekend. Today begins Week 4 and our official Count Week at Nevada Virtual Academy. This week, as with every other week, it is so important that you are completing lessons and making progress in every course. The best way to do this is to follow your Daily Plan.

I know that a handful of students have not been able to access the art lessons. While K12 is working on fixing this issue, they have suggested a couple of work arounds:
  1. Update your Java.
  2. Use Ctrl+F5 when the problem occurs.

I hope one of these solutions will work until K12 finds the root problem with the art course.

As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to chat, please kmail me or give me a call at (702) 407-1825 x7055.

Make it a great week!

~Ms. Frehner

As many of you may remember, last week there was a lot, I mean A LOT, of rain in Southern Nevada. In fact, many areas experienced destruction from flash flooding due to all the rain. This rain was a result of Hurricane Norbert, which developed in the Pacific Ocean on September 2nd.

So you may be wondering, "What is a hurricane?" Maybe you already know what a hurricane is, but do you know why they form? Check out the video below for a little bit more about what hurricanes are and why they form.

Face to Face Tutoring & Live Help

Friday, Sep. 19th, 12-4pm

6711 N Buffalo Dr

Las Vegas, NV

This Friday I will be available at the Centennial Hills Library for in person tutoring and live help. If you are struggling with some of your lessons, would like to begin developing some strategies, or just want to meet me "in real life", come on out.

In future weeks, tutoring will be structured into groups and set times. More information will come out as we get going with tutoring.

If you are planning on attending, please RSVP HERE.

Typing Resource

It is SO incredibly important that you are learning how to type correctly, especially with the SBAC coming up this year (which is computer based and will require a strong typing foundation). I have found a pretty good website that teaches typing skills and is FREE!

Check out, and sign up for a free account to keep track of your typing progress.
