Different Entrance from 7:50-8:00:
We have been allowing students to enter the building at 7:50 in order to keep students in their classroom cohorts as much as possible. We now feel it is safe to have students distance in the gym if they arrive prior to the 8:00 entry bell.
- Students will enter through gym entrance from 7:50-8:00.
- Students eating breakfast will continue to take their grab and go breakfast, but to the table in the gym until 8:00.
- Students with special passes to enter through the front will go directly to the gym from 7:50-8:00.
- Two staff members will supervise as students sit in rows on the floor by grade level.
- Since the weather is warming up, we encourage students to walk or ride bikes to school with a plan to arrive at 8:00.

Kansas State Assessments Underway in Gr 3-6
The English language arts (ELA), mathematics, social studies and science assessments are part of the federal elementary and secondary education legislation. The general assessment:
- measures specific claims related to the Kansas Standards in grades 3-8 and high school,
- reports individual student scores along with each student’s performance level, and
- provides sub-scale and total scores that can be used with local assessment scores to assist in improving a building’s or district’s programs.
Explore the Kansas Standards on the KSDE website.
Your child's teacher will communicate the dates and times for assessments at Prairie. We encourage you to be sure your child has a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast to help them focus best on testing days. We want to be sure our Prairie Panthers shine!!
Growth Mindset for April: Power of Yet
We will explore ways to empower students to direct their own learning, provide opportunities for them to think critically to solve authentic problems, and help them practice essential skills relevant to the real world.
Class Placement Process for 2022-2023
- individual special learning needs
- individual social and emotional needs
- social dynamics of groups within the grade
- creating 3 classes with a balance of needs
Do you have information that is not covered in the above areas of consideration? Beginning Tuesday, April 5, there will be a special family input paper form in the office you can pick up to fill out and return by 3:30 on April 11th.
Please do not email your child's teacher or me with your input. Use this form to provide unique information for us to consider as we begin the process in the coming weeks. We will not be searching through our emails and printing requests, only this special form will be used. Please return to office by the end of the day on April 11th.
