Wow, do we have some amazingly talented students! Thank you to everyone who came to watch our young performers and for supporting the PTO during our Mommy & Me Talent Show. Also, we want to extend a huge thank you to all of the parent and teacher volunteers for making this year’s show such a cute success!

Please be on the lookout for more upcoming events in our PTO monthly newsletter. If you would like to receive our emails and/or monthly newsletter, please email Shannon McCarty Nixon, our PTO secretary at Another way to stay informed is to attend our PTO meetings, which is always the first Thursday of every month at 5pm at ECEC. Our next meeting will be on Thursday, Feb. 4th. If you cannot make the meetings, but still have ideas/concerns, please feel free to contact our PTO President Teil Mitchell at, so that we can add them to our next meeting’s agenda. We’d love to hear from you!

The Nightly Reading Record Sheet is an amazing way to make sure reading is a priority in your house. When your child returns any monthly reading calendar completely filled in, at any time, they will receive a fun book. If they complete 6 calendars in the school year, they will get to pick a book from our “library,” Ms. Kelly will read it to them, and then they get to take it home. The Record sheet can be found and printed here

Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.”

From the Nurse...

It's raining or snowing, it's cold or it gets dark too early. These are all reasons to encourage your child to be physically active indoors. Be creative and make a fun, safe area in your house for indoor play. Dance to music, build a fort or crawl like animals. These are all great ways to keep your child moving and exercising during the winter months.

  • Please do not allow your child to bring any toys to school. All personal property needs to remain at home. This is becoming a problem and we don't want any children to have broken or missing toys.
  • All Tax Statements will be emailed to you by January 31st. If you are unsure if we have your correct email address, please contact the office.

Early Out Wednesday for January

The ONLY early release day this month is January 13th. Bus rider leave at 11 and car riders at 12. No PM Session.
There is NO school on January 18th.

Snow Day Information

Inclement weather is always a possibility especially now that it is January. Every effort will be made to provide cancellation notices as early as possible. If Lincoln County R-III is closed then ECEC is closed. As soon as a decision is made, local radio and television stations are notified. School closings will be sent via the district's FREE mobile app, listed on the District website, sent via a parent notification system and posted on Facebook. You can also follow us on Twitter @Linc_R3.

Please know that it is always YOUR decision whether to bring your child to school. We understand that you will make the best judgement for your own situation.

School closed, early release and late start are all options that the District may use. In the event of school being closed no classes will be held that day. If early release is used then bus riders will leave at 11 and car riders at 12 and no afternoon session. In the event of a late start, all AM classes will be canceled and the PM class will be in session at 1pm, full day students arrive at 12pm. Lunch will be served as normal.

It is possible that ECEC will need to adjust these times due to the timing of the weather, you will be notified as soon as possible.

With the weather changing, please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothing. We WILL be going outside every day unless the temperature falls to 20 degrees or it is raining/snowing. Gloves, hats, and coats are a MUST! Also please check your child's backpack and make sure they have the appropriate change of clothes for the weather conditions.

PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports)

Each month a PBIS sheet will come home with your child to help your family support the positive behavior that your child is learning and practicing at school. Hopefully PBIS will encourage your child have positive behavior at home as well. Please read over each item on the monthly PBIS sheet and when your child has completed those tasks he or she can return it to school to add a cutout to our PBIS wall. A copy of the form can be found at this link.
