End of the Day Transportation
We consider after school transportation to be one of three methods: 1) Bus 2) Before/after Athena 3) Parent pickup. If your child’s transportation at dismissal will be different than what he/she normally does day-to-day, please send a note to school to notify the teacher and office. We realize that something may happen during the day, which would require a transportation change for the student. If so, please call the office BEFORE 2:15 p.m. If the teacher or office has not been notified through a parent note or phone call of a need for a transportation change, the student will be sent home using the transportation method on file. A student telling us that mom/dad will pick them up or that he/she is to ride the bus will not be accepted as notification of change of transportation.
It is our responsibility to keep our students safe. If you have ever been in the elementary office at the end of the day, it is a very busy place making sure that students know & get to the place they are supposed to be in order to get home safely. We really appreciate your help in making the end of the day run as smoothly as possible.
If you are still in need of a parent pick up sign, please contact the office at 238-1646 ext 253, or email. emcqueen@midbuchanan.k12.mo.us. The signs are very helpful in getting kids out to the cars in a quick and safe manner, as well as making the line move faster.
In addition, please know that Friday is a very busy parent pick-up day, and it may take a few extra minutes to get students dismissed. Also, we do not start sending students out the door until our dismissal bell rings at 3:01. We really appreciate your having an extra dose of patience on Fridays.

Success!
The students are really enjoying the fruit and vegetable choices they have now at lunch. In years past, those choices were only given to junior and senior high students, not elementary. It's great to see students actually eating what they have chosen, versus seeing them throw half of their lunch away because they do not want the vegetable or fruit that is being served.
As we step inside classrooms, students are busy participating in activities both teacher driven and student driven. We are seeing our new chromebooks being used throughout the building. Again, we want to thank PTO and our parents for providing additional chromebooks for students' use. We have a great start on meeting the technology goal in our Strategic Plan of one-to-one technology for students.
Yes, it has been a great start to our school year! We're looking forward to all of the wonderful things that will happen in the 2018-2019 school year!
