News from the Courts

3rd Quarter Newsletter

Dear Tennis Family,

This will be the last newsletter from me. As many of you know, Aug. 31st was my last day as President of ATA. I have decided to pursue my doctorate degree and this is requiring more time than I realized. I feel my work is done and it is time for new, fresh ideas to grow the seeds that have been planted.

There have been many accomplishments and updates during my time serving ATA for the last 7 years, first as Treasurer, then as President. The courts have been made a safe place to play, a pro-shop has been built, the courts have been resurfaced, new windscreens installed, the bathrooms have been updated, as well as other updates to include court caddies, ball recycling bins, scorekeepers, and new garbage cans. I am proud of the work that was accomplished during my time and I know ATA will continue to be a great organization.

All of this work could not have been done with the immense help of the other board members and the tennis family, such as you. You have an excellent board that will continue to serve you and ATA tennis. Those board members include: Brett Prejean, Lisa Babin, Jada Mayon, Michael Thompson, and Drury Ingram. Please feel free to reach out to any of them.

I thank you for the opportunity to serve you and have enjoyed it immensely.

Join us on Saturdays for Round Robins

Every Saturday at 9am, Dru organizes a Saturday Round Robin. It's a great way to get another day of play in during the week. The format includes short sets to keep everyone moving and have the opportunity to play with new partners! Cost is $5 and registration, on our website, is free. Email Dru at dru@ascensiontennis.com for more information.

Help Recycle Balls

Each year, millions of tennis balls go back in the landfills. Ascension Tennis is now collecting balls for recycling. We often get requests from teachers, pros, and coaches for extra tennis balls. Help us re-purpose tennis balls by using our two recycling bins. One is located in the pro-shop and the other is located under the pavilion.
