Note from Mrs. Carder
Students are currently doing their middle of year assessments to show teachers where each child is in their learning. Parent reports will be shared and this is great information to discuss with your child. Set learning goals and help your child come up with ways to meet their learning goals for this year.
Please help to keep our student safe during drop off and pick up times by driving safely and being vigilant. Also, keep the car line moving forward until you it comes to a natural stop to ensure we can load as many cars at a time as possible. It helps greatly to have the yellow car tag posted with bold print of the child's name - you can pick a yellow tag up in the office if you need one. If you chose to walk up please wait patiently before crossing to keep cars moving. We have 500 students to get home safely and our car line is long but goes quickly if everyone pays attention and follows our rules.
Thank you for sharing your child with us at Gray. It is a great honor to serve this learning community.
For the Students,
Angie Carder
Principal at Wanda Gray
Things You May Not Know about Gray:
- We do quarterly fire, storm, and intruder drills to practice safety.
- 4th graders do leadership jobs for our school that they apply for, such as: safety leaders, art leaders, service leaders, technology and production leaders, and public speakers, etc...
- Teachers are do extra learning this year on trauma informed practices and differentiated learning. All teachers have a minimum of 30 hours of professional development each year.
- Each month we do a celebration assembly with our students to celebrate leadership, kindness, attendance, and various celebrations that occur each month. The entire assembly is created and presented by our 4th grade leaders.
- Students can share what our attendance goal is each week and month: to be in the top 3 for best attendance and hit the magic number of 96% attendance rate. We love to celebrate with our big beach balls at our assembly when we meet the goal.
- Buzbee Dental give indoor recess games to the top class each month that has the best attendance!
