At-Home COVID Testing Kits

There is still time before we return to school on Tuesday, January 11th to pick up your at-home COVID test kit on Monday, January 10th. The purpose of these test kits is for parents to test their students at home 24 hours prior to returning to in-person learning on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. These test kits are only intended for students.

For parents to receive a test kit, they will need to provide the student(s) full name, school attending, and grade level so that we may register the delivery in our information system. The student does not need to be present to receive the test kit. Parents who have multiple students in the district will get one test kit per student.

Student At-Home Testing Kit Distribution Centers:

Distribution Center 1: Vista Innovation Center

836 Olive Avenue, Vista CA

Distribution Center 2: Vista High School

1 Panther Way Vista, CA

Hours of Operation: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

COVID continues to impact the Vista community and there have been some increases in numbers since the Fall Break. We want to be extra cautious when students or family have symptoms. If your child has any symptoms of COVID please keep them at home and get them tested.

-Ms. Walker's Reading Tips-

This week: Build your student’s descriptive language skills!

Students should use their 5 senses - sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch - when describing something.

Ask younger students to describe an object, such as a favorite stuffed animal or food. For example,

Fluffy Bunny looks like a fluffy white cloud.

Fluffy Bunny smells like my bed.

Fluffy Bunny sounds like quiet sleep.

Fluffy Bunny tastes like my clothes coming out of the dryer.

Fluffy Bunny feels like cotton balls.

Ask older students to describe the weather, a season or place.

Winter looks like people bundled in coats and hats.

Winter smells like fallen leaves on wet grass.

Winter sounds like the wind in the trees.

Winter tastes like hot cocoa.

Winter feels like a warm blanket.

Remember, a student’s oral language – in any language – builds a foundation for the reading and writing that occur in school.

ASES-After School Program

Due to a staffing shortage the ASES program may be subjected to closure which can occur on any day. We apologize for any inconveniences.
