Welcome Back
We hope that you had a very nice, restful and fun winter break! Ashlee and I enjoyed our time with family and we both tried to catch up on some sleep. :)
It is never best practice to be absent the day before or the day after a holiday/break. In keeping with my transparency and open communication with you, I want to explain my whereabouts this coming week. Over the break, I took my oldest son to his ENT appointment that we scheduled before he was even home for his winter break. He has been having a lot of throat pain and an increase in the amount of times he has had strep since contracting mono in August 2016. As a result, he will be having his tonsils and adenoids out on Tuesday, January 2nd (yes, the day we return from winter break). I will obviously be with Andrew and then home again with him on the 3rd. From there, my whereabouts will depend on how he is recovering. The ENT told us that this will be a painful recovery. :( We appreciate any positive thoughts and prayers (if you don't mind sending them his way.
Ashlee and I have been communicating over break and we are still on (regardless of my schedule with my son) for CLT (formerly known as PLC) meetings on Wed. and the staff meeting on Thursday.
We are excited for the coming year. 2018 is going to BE OUR YEAR!!!
Have a great week!
Carrie
Let's SHAKE those WINTER BLUES!!
We're shakin' those WINTER BLUES AWAY! So, let's add some fun while we wait for the sun...
For the month of January...
Mondays - Jersey Day and The SHES Staff Snowball Fight (Yes, I said a snowball fight) in the middle hallway at 8:45 AM. When you hear "Let's Get it Started" on the intercom, head to the middle hallway and get ready...We'll have someone announce when it is time to PLAY snowBALL!
How does it work??? Like Dodgeball of course only everyone brings their own SOCKBALL - you know, the one that you can't find the match for in the laundry room...feel free to decorate it). If you're hit below the neck with a sockball, you're out (Please step towards the back and cheer your team on). If a sockball is on the ground, it's fair game - pick it up and throw it. You may only throw at people on the other side of the line and you have to stay on your side of the line, ALWAYS. Where's the line??? Right there at the computer lab door! We'll put some painter's tape down. So, what are the teams and who is on your team? Well, if you were to draw an imaginary line from the computer lab door through the library, across the hall and through the cafeteria, everyone to the office side is on the Green Team. Everyone on the Art Room side is on the Purple Team. Players play at their own risk. Nobody is expected to play but we sure hope everyone does play. Oh, and one more thing...You MUST throw with your non-dominant hand...It's no fun if someone gets hurt! We'll play until everyone is out or until 9:00 AM. The team with the most teammates still in play is the winner. The goal is obviously to leave no man standing on the opposing team...At 9:00 AM we will pick up the sockballs, put them in the sockball basket and keep them until the next Monday! If this is too much fun and you don't want to stop, we'll keep it going in February. Only time will tell...(Please note that unfortunately, you may not clock in early to play. This is a PWCS rule, not a "Carrie/Ashlee" rule as we cannot justify it)...
Tuesdays - Black/White Day (Show your best PENGUIN attire). Oh, and please feel free to waddle in the hallway! ;)
Wednesdays - Wednesday's Winter WORKING Wonderland (Show your team spirit by dressing alike - the kids will LOVE it and you'll love it too)! Did I mention there could be awards for creativity and collaboration???
Thursdays - Take THAT Winter BLUES...Wear your brightest and most colorful attire to show you are shaking those winter blues! It's ok to be bold, not match, be wacky but most importantly, HAVE FUN!
Fridays - School Spirit Day and HOT CHOCOLATE K cups in the lounge! Nothing says hello weekend like (Hot) chocolate!
