CAPITALIZE ON MARCH MADNESS

We've shared the free resource EVERFI several times before; they keep adding more and more relevant resources. One way to capitalize on current interest in the NCAA Basketball Championship here in Indiana: try the Data Champions lesson from @EVERFIK12's Endeavor, where Ss learn about careers in sports analytics and technology. (I did have to be logged in to get to the lesson.) If you have questions about EVERFI, you can contact Kaley Esselborn, the Indiana rep.

CHAMPIONS TOGETHER ACTIVITIES

Big picture
Big picture
As some activities expand at schools, several schools are using Champions Together in the Middle for meaningful engagement. From a great training experience for Lake Ridge New Tech MS, from Brownsburg East & West Middle Schools participating in the Polar Plunge (above) to Norwell and East Noble having what is believed to be the first Unified Champions swim meet, it's an ideal program for SEL and many other things.

You can still become part of the program (outdoor track could be a prime opportunity) and have a core group of students participate in a virtual training. Contact Tori Batson at Special Olympics.

ESSER Funding Webinar Series

Can you use ESSER funds for an HVAC system? A curriculum director? Replacement library books that were never returned and more eBooks and databases? Another tech support person? I attended an excellent presentation last week with Cole Dietrich, Director of Title Grants and Support for DOE through Keep Indiana Learning concerning the use of ESSER funds. You can watch the session on demand by signing up with email; there will be another session on April 20.

Varsity Tutoring Free Programs for Students

Varisty Tutors has a paid program for students, but also many free live events (probably to add people to their mailing list). For example, they have one on Neil Armstrong and Gemini 8 this week, you can see an extensive list here. BTW, I have heard from several teachers that if you are looking for a side job (as if you had time), working for Varsity Tutors was very enjoyable.

Speaking of Space... Free BreakoutEDU Puzzle for Women's History Month

Even if you are not a BreakoutEDU subscriber, you can register with email to receive access to a preview puzzle for Women in Space featuring mathematician Katherine Johnson.

Fun Activity with Students: Which One Doesn't Belong?

Although designed primarily for math, many teachers have reported having a lot of success with using these examples or creating their own. It's an opportunity for students to share reasoning for choices when there really are not right or wrong answers.
