Halloween Celebrations
This year we will be celebrating Halloween on Monday, October 31st.
Your child's teacher will communicate classroom celebration details to you.
Here are the costume guidelines all students must follow to participate:
- Masks or face painting that cover a student’s full face is not permitted.
- No pretend, prop, toy, or facsimile guns/ weapons (swords, play knives, etc.) are allowed.
- Costumes that are overly graphic, promote violence or otherwise might logically be assumed to be offensive to others are not acceptable.
- All costumes must be sensitive to all religious and ethnic groups; free from any language or symbols that target or inappropriately identify groups of students.
- Hats or wigs will be allowed if part of a costume and they do not pose a distraction to the learning environment.
- Costumes should not include items with sound effects, lights or other components which might disrupt the classroom learning environment.
- Students who wear costumes that do not conform to the costume guidelines listed above will be asked to change their clothing or contact home to acquire an appropriate alternative.
5 ESSENTIAL PARENT SURVEY
Please take some time to complete the 5 Essential Parent Survey
This completely anonymous, 20-minute survey is designed to give your principal, teachers, and staff a better understanding of how you feel about your school, the school district, and how connected you feel to your child's learning. This information is used by the superintendent, principals, and teachers. It will help us know where we need to improve communication and engagement with you so that we can all be on the same team to support your child. Your name and contact information will never be used and results will be reported directly to the school. We really appreciate your time to help us become better at partnering with you and supporting your child.
Please complete a survey for each of your children that attend Howbert.
Welcome New Staff to the Howbert Community
Please welcome:
Melody Stone - Educational Assistant in 2nd grade
Sandi Watkins - Part-time counselor
Melody and Sandi will be great additions to our staff and add additional supports for students.
Veteran's Day Celebration
We will be celebrating our veterans on Friday, November 11th.
The celebration will include a breakfast for veterans of our families and a student video that will be posted on the school website and social media.
Look for your child to bring home an invitation(s) to give to a veteran in your family to invite him/her to come into Howbert for a breakfast and celebration.
CMAS RESULTS - 2022 - 3RD, 4TH, 5TH GRADE
The state has released the scores of the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) for tests taken last spring. These tests measure student progress in learning the state standards in language arts, math, science, and social studies. We have placed those scores into a special section of PowerSchool Parent Portal. Your student’s teacher may also send home a hard copy of these scores.
CMAS score report resources are extremely informative for parents. They give clarity as to where your student is finding success with the subjects they are mastering in school. They are written with parents/guardians and students in mind.
We hope these resources will help you and your student’s teachers to make the most of this school year. Additionally, the State of Colorado has put together some excellent resources to make that even easier for you.

Random Acts of Kindness
Caring is feeling and showing concern for others.
This week the goal is to look beyond our home and care for our community. How we treat and interact with our community as a family says a great deal about how much we care. This week our project focuses on personally interacting with our immediate community (neighborhood, town, etc.) through caring acts. See the PDF for the Home-Community project.
Free Social Emotional Learning Resource
The Emotional ABCs website is offering a free month of social-emotional lessons for families. The Emotional ABCs is a skills-based social emotional learning (SEL) curriculum for children ages 4-11 which teaches foundational emotional skills. See below for the link.
