In-Person Graduation!
Vista High is pleased to announce that senior Graduation ceremonies will be held in person, at the football stadium, June 18th, 2021, time TBA. The event will also be live streamed for your convenience.
Current COVID safety protocols will guide the planning of the event and determine the limited number of guests that each graduate may invite to the ceremony.
We are asking our Seniors to fill out a Senior Reservation Form so that we may get an accurate count of attendees. You will receive this in the mail. If you did not receive the form, you can print it out here. Please return the Reservation Form to our Finance office by May 14, 2021.
Update on Senior Celebrations/ Graduation Activities
Due to Covid-19, senior activities for all VUSD high schools will be very limited compared to what has happened during non-Covid years. Sadly, the traditional Junior/Senior Prom is not possible due to current CDPH guidelines. On the positive side, an outdoor Senior celebration, following the social distancing and mask-wearing guidelines, is planned for the week of graduation; more details to follow. The Student of the Year Ceremony and Senior Scholarship Awards will be presented virtually, so all families can attend, also details TBA. We love our Panthers and canβt wait to celebrate their accomplishments!

Seniors - Quick Survey Needed!
Hey Class of 2021!
I need to know if you have earned any scholarships or awards.
Many 4-year colleges may have included a scholarship as part of your award package (so make sure to check). You may have also applied to a local scholarship and won.
I want to make sure you are included in the Senior Awards Event for EVERY and ALL scholarships you have won.
As well, I want to know WHERE you are headed after graduation. What college have you accepted and signed with, going to community college, military, apprenticeship, etc.
This form will be kept open and you can come back and enter more information or change it as we go. Many seniors win scholarships up to graduation and even after.
College Visits
Visits by college admissions reps are still taking place before and after school. This is a great opportunity for juniors to start their college exploration process so that they can select next year where to apply. All visits are open to any grade level. No sign up is needed, just click on the zoom link at the time of the visit and you're good to go.
Scholarships
From now until the end of April is peak Scholarship season. Seniors need to be searching for and applying for scholarships dollars. There is a scholarship for just about everyone. Make sure your senior is checking the Scholarship Bulletin on a regular basis and checking the College & Career Center google classroom. Many local scholarships will be coming up over the following months and local and regional scholarships are ones our seniors win each year.
Are you interested in starting your own scholarship or have one to promote to our students? Please contact Mr. Soderback (stephensoderback@vistausd.org).
Employment
Employment - Students who are looking for a job can join us every other Tuesday after school for JOB LAB online. Register here for upcoming sessions.
Students who do get a job and are under 18 will need to have a work permit application signed by one of their parents, the new employer and Vista High School. The entire process is done online via email this year. This is the work permit application that needs to be filled in and emailed to Mr. Soderback (stephensoderback@vistausd.org).

School Accountability Reports (SARC)
State law requires all public schools receiving state funding to prepare and distribute a SARC. The purpose of the report card is to provide parents and the community with important information about each public school. A SARC can be an effective way for a school to report on its progress in achieving goals. The public may also use a SARC to evaluate and compare schools on a variety of indicators. A hard copy will be made available upon request at the school site.
The SARC contains all of the following:
- Demographic data
- School safety and climate for learning information
- Academic data
- School completion rates
- Class sizes
- Teacher and staff information
- Curriculum and instruction descriptions
- Postsecondary preparation information
- Fiscal and expenditure data

Vista High School Honor V Awards
Each year Vista High School celebrates Honor V.
The Honor βVβ Awards originated in 1984, with the first honoree being the late Tony Duran.
Since that time, specially selected individuals are honored each year that have contributed to VHS students and the community over a significant period of time.
Following the ceremony, the awardeesβ names are engraved on a perpetual plaque and are on permanent display in the Honor βVβ Quad at Vista High School.
The Honor V award is the highest award recognized each year at Vista High School.
This Year we are happy to announce that our 2020 Honor V Recipients are :
