The sixth grade class is off to a great start this school year! We are proud of our students for being flexible and for complying with new standards and expectations given the current circumstances surrounding Covid 19. We appreciate their hard work! We know none of this would be possible without your support! Thank you for all you are doing to support your child and the middle school staff!

HALLOWEEN NEWS
On October 30, we ask all students who plan to wear a Halloween costume to arrive to school fully dressed. Please keep in mind a medical face mask will still be required while in the classroom. Students may slip on their costume face mask prior to the Halloween walk. Students will NOT be allowed to use the restrooms to get dressed, to apply make-up or do their hair.
We are requesting $2.00 from each student to cover the cost of a yummy treat we would like to serve students the morning of Halloween.
Also, please remember that October 30 is a half day! Students will be dismissed at 11:30.
Below is our standard procedures we follow every year for students who choose to wear a costume:
Costume Expectations
If your child is participating in the Halloween parade, costumes and makeup may not be scary. Students will have time the afternoon of the parade to get dressed. Please leave plastic guns and knives at home. Costumes must also adhere to the Chatfield School dress code. Ladies should not wear costumes that reveal their midriff. Spaghetti straps are not allowed. Dresses and skirts should be fingertip length. Your child will be asked to change if a costume is inappropriate. Thank you!

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Permission Slip DUE soon!!
Although there is a lot of uncertainty about what the year may bring, if the opportunity presents itself we would like to take the sixth grade class on our annual trip to The Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The cost of the trip is $175. We are accepting deposits of $55. At this time we will not offer fundraising opportunities due to Covid 19. However, if we transition into Phase 5 we may be able to participate in some fundraisers. The deposit will be used to pay for busing expenses through Dean Transportation.
The permission slip and refundable deposit of $55 is due Monday, October 5.
Chaperones are welcome to attend the trip. However, we are only able to transport a limited number of chaperones to the U.P. and from trail head to trail head. If you are interested in attending the trip, please keep in mind that we hike approximately 4-6 miles a day and climb about 500 stairs. It is important that those who attend are physically able to hike and assist with putting up and taking down tents. Additionally, those who volunteer to attend will be asked to help assist Chatfield staff and students during our stay at the campground and at meal times.
Chaperones who were drawn to attend the trip are expected to submit a $55 deposit and the chaperone expectations contract, failure to do so will result in losing your spot to attend the trip.
Permission slips were sent home with your child Thursday, September 3.
Thank you!
