Today

This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind… let it be something good.

Parent/Teacher Conference Date Change

The school board approved a calendar change for our parent/teacher conferences to avoid event conflicts. The two second-semester conference dates are Thursday, February 16th, and Thursday, March 2nd. Times for each night are 4 pm to 8 pm. Please call the school office to set up appointments for your students.

2023 OUTSTANDING TEACHER AWARD

Congratulations to Mrs. Peggy Hall for being selected as the 2023 Akron Outstanding Teacher! Mrs. Hall is in her 30th year of teaching at the Akron School District. During those years, she has taught nearly every grade level in the school. For the past several years, she has served as the Family and Consumer Studies teacher and advisor of the FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) program.

Each year a donation is given from an anonymous donor to recognize an outstanding teacher in the Akron School. The hope is to recognize the great work of teachers and the impact they make in students' lives on a daily basis. The Akron School District is blessed to have a wonderful team of teachers and staff members who are deserving of recognition.

Congratulations Mrs. Hall! We are so proud of you and this honor is well-deserved!

Did You Know?

Did you know that on December 1st, 2022, Addi Kessinger broke an Akron Girls’ Basketball record that was over thirty years old? The record was for points scored in a game. The previous record of 37 points was held by Shantil Basler who set the record during the 1989-90 season and graduated from Akron High School in 1990. Kessinger broke the record this season against Burlington scoring 38 points. Not only did she break the scoring record that night, but she also had 12 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 4 assists.
