Bomb/ Atomic Bombs
By Ryan Landry
In this German lab scientist Otto Hahn discovered that Nuclear fission existed. This started a race for a weapon using nuclear fission that could wipe out entire cities in a blink of an eye. It started with 2 major players, in the red corner we have Nazi Germany, the racist uncle of modern Germany, and in the blue we have the U.S and the U.K, pretty much the same today. This race would compete for the ultimate prize... world domination.
The American team was led by Dr. Robert Oppenheimer and was dubbed "The Manhattan Project". Over a time period of a few years they tested many designs and concepts (not live but theoretical tests) until in 1945 they made a Plutonium Bomb and scheduled testing for July 16th, 1945 in the New Mexico desert. The bomb was tested at a site dubbed Trinity and the results were astonishing. The blast could be heard miles away.
Germany, the intended target for the bomb surrendered May 7th, 1945 but Japan refused to back down and this presented a dilemma... Should they use the bomb to end World War 2? President Truman decided America should do so and you know how this sad story goes. After the war ended America and the U.S.S.R. rivaled each other knowing if they fought with nukes, it would mean with the death of civilization. After the cold war ended many countries had nukes.
Present Day:
About 9 nations have nukes: the U.S, Russia, India, China, Israel, North (we hate America and we not a democracy even though we say we are in our name) Korea, Pakistan, the U.K. , and France. This creates many problems for the world because if a nuclear war were to occur, even a small one, it would have dramatic consequences for everyone. The nuke began a new chapter in human history. But it might be the last.
