Raleigh/Cary DG Alumnae Association
August/September 2015
A Message From Your President
My name is Holly M. Weakland and I am so excited to be serving as your new association President! Lauren Hilgers Pritchett has done a stellar job for the last few years-thank you Lauren!
To tell you a little more about myself, I moved here last Fall from Cleveland, Ohio where I was an active member in the Cleveland East/West Alumnae Association and an ATC for the Beta Mu-Bowling Green State University my chapter of initiation. I currently serve as the communications adviser for the Eta Kappa chapter at NC State. Go Pack! I work in higher education and have dabbled in residence life, student activities, Greek advising and more! I currently work at UNC Chapel Hill as a student services coordinator for the graduate program in the School of Media and Journalism, and still volunteer with other Greek organizations and leadership institutes here and there. I live in North Raleigh with my husband Randy and our orange tabby cat Leo.
Together with our incoming executive board, are SO excited for another great year of Delta Gamma gatherings and socials, We plan on mixing it up a bit with some brunches, wellness activities, and service opportunities! It is our hope that this blend of different activities will bring out some sisters we haven't seen in awhile!
Whether you are a young alumna that has just graduated, a fast-paced professional, a new mom, or a retiree-we all have a common interest that binds us together: a love for Delta Gamma and the sisterhood we have cultivated over time. I look forward to seeing each and every one of you at our upcoming Fall events!

INSPIRATION
Delta Gamma @2300 Update!
Eta Kappa Chapter’s House Corporation has selected Inland Construction to build our new home in Greek Village. Jim Edwards of Inland is working with Judy Pickett, chair of the HC Design and Construction Committee, and our architect, Jim Compton of Cline Design, on final design details and cost estimates.
Located on a corner lot, Delta Gamma’s new home at NC State will be the third of four houses in Phase I. Move-in is scheduled to happen before recruitment in Fall 2016.
The loan was approved on Friday, May 29th and construction started on June 1st! The fence is up and the structure of the house is starting to take form!
Inspired by the long-awaited Ground Breaking for the new Eta Kappa chapter house, an anonymous Delta Gamma donor issued a $20,000 Capital Campaign matching challenge.
Now that this beautiful facility is about to emerge from a previously empty lot, the reality of it hit home for our benefactor and she hopes that others will feel the same.
Any new or increased gift for the rest of 2015 will count toward the $20,000 matching challenge.
So far $6,905 has been raised toward the challenge, giving a $13, 810 boost to our fundraising efforts. But we are not even half way there yet.
Your $13,095 in new gifts and pledges will help us reach that much-needed $40,000!

A NEW INITIATIVE
Raleigh/Cary Alumnae DOING GOOD- A Foundation Update!
- A $1,000 Association scholarship to an NC State Student Rachel Lloyd
- $350 to the Loyalty Fund w/the Delta Gamma Foundation. This donation is directed toward the Seedlings Foundation, which produce braille books for children. These monies come directly from the funds raised during the Silent Auction at Founders Day!
- September 13th-19th, Delta Gamma's 2nd Annual "Do Good" week! We encourage you to do a good deed for someone or the community, whether it’s “paying it forward” at a coffee shop, writing letters to military personnel, or simply helping a sister out! This is an opportunity to connect with new members, as well as a way to connect engaged alumnae back to our “Do Good” mission. Use the hashtag #DGDoGoodWeek on social media to share all of the “good” you or your group is doing!
