Virtual Spring Book Fair
The LAF Virtual Spring Book Fair is coming! The Book Fair will be live from Friday March 12th - Saturday March 20th, with book delivery 10-12 days later. Order your child new books to read over spring break! (The live link to the Book Fair will be sent next week!)
LAF's Annual Read A Thon is Happening NOW!
The Read-a-thon is like a jog-a-thon, except your child will be reading books instead of running laps, and earning pledges based on how much they read. Pledges can be made for a fixed dollar amount or for how much they read. Everything is tracked online, which makes inviting sponsors and logging reading much easier! It’s a great way to encourage your kids to read while raising money for great causes! The Read A Thon begins March 1, 2021 and ends on March 31, 2021.
Your child has received all of their login information. Please be sure to LOG IN with your child at home so they can track their minutes and invite sponsors! Look for a BLUE Read A Thon Login sheet next week. Virtual students will receive their information via email.
Your child will not be able to invite any sponsors without your authorization. In order to authorize your child's account, simply have your child log in and hit the “Invite Sponsors” button, then follow the parent authorization instructions.
Our goal is to reach over 500,000 minutes read to beat last year's record! Weekly goals and school wide prizes each week such as PJ day, Crazy Sock Day will be announced each week.
This year we are very excited to donate part of the proceeds to: Helping Hands of Chatham
This organization is a group of Chatham residents raising funds to provide grocery gift cards for local families in need during the coronavirus shutdown.
For more information, please visit: https://www.facebook.com/groups/HelpingHandsofChathamNJ/
The LAF PTO will receive the other portion of the proceeds.
Thank you so much for your support!
Sincerely,
Kara Sibilia (kara.sibilia@yahoo.com) and Kelly Sachs (ksachs10@gmail.com)
Coming Soon!!!
5th - 6th Grade Transition News
Next week, your children will be introduced to their course options at Chatham Middle School via a video prepared by the CMS counselors. After they view the video, they will have an opportunity to submit questions that will be addressed during Google Meets with the CMS counselors. The Google Meets will take place on the 12th of March.
At our next PTO Meeting, March 18th (9:15 a.m.), Jill Gihorski, CMS Principal, will be our guest speaker. She will share information about how to navigate the parent portal to schedule your child for their cycle and elective classes. She will also go through the CMS schedule and programs. Once your children come home on the 12th, feel free to submit any questions that you may have about the scheduling process to lafptopresident@gmail.com.
